Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Lockbox - Item Processing

Allegedly, last year there was a lockbox location that had a manager that hid work in a conference room for months.

Prior to the work being discovered several low level workers were displaced due to their being so little work. A few sites were closed were closed due to efficiency of this one site.

When employees were doing exited interviews with HR, after about the 4th or 5th person stated there is a room full of work that was unprocessed, HR decided to alert the director of the lockbox, swift banking, wire transfers, etc. this issue was so bad that person had to work out of that office to get a handle on the situation. This guy was big deal. Even Sharon Murphy got involve.

To make matters worse several companies did not get their payments process on time. They had to declare bankruptcy and they sued WF.

Obviously the manager was fired. He was escorted out the building. Other team leads that didn’t know about the situation were let go too.

I’m not sure where things are now. There were rumors the manager was going to be sued by the bank.

Even the mail room was concerned because 70 percent of their work was lock box/item processing.

From my understanding, they reduced the number of employees and insourced 3rd party work which caused the department to be unable to keep up with processing. This was done to save money of course.

So someone asked what was the purpose of the manager hiding the work.

I don’t think anyone knows his real reason for hiding work.

He was very incompetent. Many times you would explain things and he would just nod his head. He seemed to be very into his appearance. He was the type that would sit in a meeting with others and then see you outside the building and not speak. Then later he would ask a favor after giving you the cold shoulder.

I do know when he left there was a problem with a “robot” that sort the mail/work. They said it stopped working when the Wlan was installed. But the Wlan was installed for 2 1/2 years. He was informed but never raised the issue so it could be addressed. The vendor that supplied the robot was super frustrated. So various people not assigned to a service request came together to fix the problem because of the major issues in the area. Due to the managers behavior. The issue was researched and fixed within 3 weeks.

It’s a shame as this group’s location had 3 people that died from covid. They had to go in every day during the pandemic.

Payback for Wells Fargo taking advantage of their employees for years. Excellent leaders have excellent employees. BTW - I typically only hear lazy worthless people calling other people “lazy worthless people”.

OP - With what you’ve heard, what do you think was the purpose behind hiding the work? Because the manager couldn’t get it done and wanted to hide the evidence? Or to sabotage the bank or his boss?
