Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Most people still respect the brand

I still think Dell is a great company with great products and a good reputation. I also think MD has a pretty good vision for the future. That said, the strategies being laid out to achieve that vision are abhorrent. This company is now solely driven by the board and the street with initiatives changing every quarter after earnings. The only way necessary risks can be taken is if MD bought it back and took it private. That said, a lot of this is dirty laundry and most people still really respect the brand.

@1tgk+1o1RfsCZ makes a good point.

Dell is a commodity purveyor. Everything the sell is a commodity.

If you want 5000 laptops, get Dell.

If you want a couple of hundred servers get Dell, except those cr-ppy R900’s.

If you want petabytes of storage get Dell.

Dell has no value add.

Just what is Dell’s AI future? It is selling laptops and servers for people to run their AI apps on.

This is such an old way of thinking. Nobody with sense respects brands anymore. Everyone knows corporations are going to do whatever they need to for next quarters profits. That is why the newer generations laugh at the older generations who buy into being a company champion. Put simply, the company will never love you.

Company "brand reputation" is seen in many ways including the product, culture, supporting innovation etc.
you are confusing the reputation of products with company culture, quality of employees.
None of the complaints in this forum spoke about their opinion about the Dell monitor or laptops.

Go back to school to learn comprehension.
