Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

No Work / Quiet Quitting

Tell us about your story of not having much work (for years).
Tell us about your quiet quitting experience.

I get a paycheck but that is about it. Maybe 3 hours a week of work. It is managements problem not mine at this point.

Mos of the deadbeats are corrupt executives and managers who do nothing and just keep collecting fat paychecks. Oh by the way, they also cheat and steal from the customers.

Don't listen to the deadwood executives and deadwood managers who want to keep you here just to serve them. Stop being their puppets, think for yourself and control your life.

The managers are worried about their own jobs. Those located in a non-hub are scurrying to find a backup plan like moving to a hub or finding a new job. Those in senior manager positions think they need to be higher up and looking around for a director title that does not exist. Others who just got their title taken away are looking elsewhere. Lots of boomers just waiting to retire. Awareness for move the line is starting to take shape (look it up on Teamworks) and org changes are locked and loaded and ready to change the dynamics of your role early next year, along with the job of your new AVP title and higher medical premiums.

Unlike other banks, you can't help Wells Fargo. As long as Charlie, his corrupt executives and managers control this organization, no one can help this company. They don't care about your accomplishments or hard work, they will eventually replace you with offshore workers. ...unless you are one of the overpaid executives who want to keep slaves who serve you in this plantation.

If you have no interest nor talent in caring for people and motivating them, then step down so someone who does can have an opportunity. How can we help the company weed out these deadbeats?

I like my manager but this company is too big for one person to make a real impact, i.e. 'going above and beyond'.

I could work my tail off all year and it just wouldn't move the needle in this giant org. And I'm fine with that.

The alternative is a smaller company, but working at a smaller company means dealing with wannabe big fish in a little pond where everyone is trying to make a name for themselves.

At least at big giant dinosaurs, that's not an issue. We're all just grains of sand, and everyone knows it.

Just do what you need to to stay sane. The review process is largely copy/paste, as is the comp process. Employees sometimes think that their review and comp is the result of heavy analysis of that employee's work by management. It's not. It's almost all about dept budget.

I feel no desired to make my manager successful when there's nothing in it for me. This means the absolute minimum work gets done and no sharing on innovation on my part. Sorry, but this is the deal.

Way too many managers recycling information without much contribution. Most don’t have a clue about leadership skills and are just there to collect a big paycheck and get high on the power trip. Innovation comes from people who know the job and are performing it everyday. Sadly WF petty manager have ki-led the spirit and motivation in all of us. Where is the higher standard that the would be held against or is that just a buzz word for individual contributors during annual reviews?

It all comes down to how your manager treats you. Enough said.

This corrupt organization is a lost cause, don't work hard. If you go above and beyond, your insecure manager will feel threatened and he/she will punish you.

Not finding it encouraging/vindicating via solidarity with others in regards to the questionable pop workplace label of -quiet quitting- .

Reading between the lines shows what we are really inquiring about is perspective; recognizing the current conditions while parsing for thoughts on how to improve one's situation.

A lot of us feel depleted, exhausted and unmotivated here. It doesn't have to be that way.

If you're able to, try to work it out so that you report to yourself.

OP, Does your manager just look the other way or what?

Being efficient in your position is not the same as quiet quitting. If you actively avoid work and cause it to be placed upon others then you are exactly what you dislike about the org you work for.

if I can do in 30 minutes what takes people in my groups hours/days, then i do it in a couple hours instead, don't have to stress, and still come out smelling like a rose come year end.

Quiet quitting isn’t when you aren’t assigned work, it’s when you slow down with what work you are given.
I’ve been doing this for some time now and still making all my deadlines.
I will not take on any additional assignments though, just say no.

By their actions (forcing into office after hiring permanent remote, changing and increasing job functions into progressively sh*ttier tasks, and keeping pay as low as possible), I figure the firm’s goal is complete disengagement. So I am now completely disengaged. They used to have someone who worked their *ss off. Oh well.

They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work. Always works for me. Less pay/benefits = less work output. It has never been easier to hide in the confusion than now with all the down staffing, offshoring and shitshow. They can't fire all of us, but they can changeout management and cause more confusion.

I give them what they pay for. They want more? Pay more. Above and beyond is charity to a multi billion dollar pillar of the financial system.. and akin to wage theft. Act your wage. Charlie doesn’t need a free lunch.

"Quiet quitting" is just efficient workload management. Anyone who gets angry over the wording doesn't understand the situation. I've essentially "quiet quit" for decades here but that's because I only took jobs where efficient workload management meant I still put out as much work as the workaholics on my team, I just don't ki-l myself to do it. They're stressed out, I'm not. I still get great reviews and max bonus just like they do.
