Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO JOKE

Some people in Bedminster come in and leave early.
What happened to checking the badge swipes? Managers should be held accountable.
If this is the edict then it should be followed.

If you care about what other people are doing, you possess negative characteristics. You should worry about yourself. You have no idea what their schedule is or what they’re doing. Mind your own business you loser.

Surprised people can’t understand why people would be perturbed that they follow the company RTO rules and the next guy is just swiping in and leaving at lunch.

You can say your working round the clock all you want but it doesn’t matter what we think on this board. The company can find out so it’s no secret what your doing if they really want to know they’ll know. There are 5 key loggers on your computer so they can tell if they want if your earning your salary.

Amazing to me people care what others are doing - my team is 24x7 oncall and we regularly work off hours on production systems. You bet I’m leaving early or heck not even coming in the same day or the day after while I work 9PM-2AM on production systems.

There has always been a bunch of losers who worry about other people, these people are miserable and most of the time don’t even bring any value …they do basic work and think they are doing something. They are a joke.

“ How do you know these people leaving at 1 pm didn't start at 4 or 5 am??? ”. Get real, you know that’s not the case. Besides, shifting your hours so that you are not available for half the day is unacceptable. We are supposed to be working Core Hours.

It counts until it doesn’t, I would get that in an email or teams to cya, even then that might not be enough.. These mandates come from on high, it’s above their pay grade, your local manager isn’t going to count in the final say.

From what I have heard as in over heard in the office. They are working 2-6 hrs in office 3 days a week because their managers are telling them it’s ok. They aren’t trying to be sneaky their managers are like “as long as you work a minimum of 2,4,6 hrs you’re good” each manager is different. So these managers that are coming in for a short amount of time are doing so because their managers said that counts as a In office day.

All our meetings are still virtual because our teams cross hub locations. So we have virtual meetings. Some Karen said that everyone in each location should go into a conference room together to sit together for same virtual conference. Also said they'd be wearing a mask if they had to sit with a large group. So people like that will be like that and somehow think sitting together for a virtual meeting is somehow better.

Salaried = No set shift and can be expected to work well into the evening for the same pay. Hourly = 7-4, 8-5 or whatever plus potential overtime. You have no clue so mind your own business.

“… And that they won’t be paid overtime for working that 16-20 hour shift.”

Let’s take it easy huh? Look I’m a manager too, for many years, and I also cover some maintenance windows from time to time. But let’s not pretend you’re doing that every day. Don’t BS A BS’er. No one’s buying it.

I know what plenty of the non bargained for do in my office. None of them are technical or do any MW stuff. They’re only in the office 4-5 hours tops. .

It’s basic human nature to expect consistent application of rules. Anyone calling you a Karen for following rules and expecting others to do that same is clueless. Don’t worry though as said above, it’s still early on. They are tracking location and vpn/lan activity. They will eventually be dealt with. This is something that plenty of other companies are dealing with too. They are all eventually going to use similar tools with similar ramifications (firing those not complying). Because people are so blatantly and intentionally subverting rules leadership of all corporations will, most likely, become more vigilant to the point that they are significantly worse than any pre covid tracking. Children can follow simple rules. Can you?

Let me guess, another 8 hour shift worker complaining that a manager who doesn’t likely even work in their department is coming in early to make sure they are compliant, after working overnight for those $$$ customers , AND they are booked well into this afternoon and evening on calls across multiple time zones. And that they won’t be paid overtime for working that 16-20 hour shift. But you’re crying because they have work to do and you can’t stop what you’re doing and watch them work?

Mind your own desk. Especially when you don’t have a clue what others are being asked to do.

You can’t leave your laptop in the office not secured while the class is going. COBC rule.

Managers are salaried…not hourly clock punchers. If we don’t draw a dime of OT for working 50-60 hours a week, then it’s only fair to leave early on days with less workload. They also never designated duration in office per day…only 3-5 days a week.

Badge in. Start your laptop. Log in to PLE, start an 8 hour video course. Go home. Check COU for email/chat every hour. Take calls from COU. You’re welcome.

The tools and data they have are flawed.

They have no way to integrate your time off with the information from the tool.

As a result, they must manually account for time off. Which means, your Area Manager controls the results.

They do have that person...several of them. They are also looking and LAN and VPN usage. What they actually do with that...time will tell.

We need an IT person that can program to see LAN usage time in time out. Then VPN time in time out. Active hours/minutes during the day on both.

If people come in and leave early, say maybe 1 or 2 pm, it doesn't mean they are not working after that time. I know that I have had to leave early some days (for various reasons) and I get right back to work when I get home.

In a nutshell....mind your business. You have no idea why people leave early. Of course, there are those who are taking advantage of the situation, but that's for their supervisor to deal with. Worry about yourself.

Adults don't like being treated as children....a company that tells everyone to move to Dallas, Atlanta or a hub doesn't have a soul. Everyone knows it's a layoff in disguise. There is no loyalty from the company to employees anymore and therefore employees get it and have little/no loyalty to company....how ironic that the company that is all about "connections" and helping people work remotely now is forcing everyone back to the office....

Treat you people right and they will treat their customers right!
