I heard that they’re literally hiring people just so they can lay them off at some point. It’s wild.

I saw the numbers - it is 15,000 in Minneapolis and 20,000 in San Francisco. Charlotte is still at 13,000. RIP your career!!!!

yes it is - there are business case openings (layoff slots) every two weeks all year long. its always the tuesday after a payday. we are doing another round on the 17th and there are plenty more open through 2024. Dont let people confuse you - this is now normal course of business for WF

Layoffs are probably for non-hub employees - not sure why others are posting large numbers for hub locations

It may happen, it may be postponed. No one knows and no one is talking. Anyone left in mortgage should polish resume. Another layoff is happening, but who knows if 10/17 or 11/14, how many, what location (hub not hub) as more roles are being moved to India. Leaders have said we are limiting mortgage business so it's to be expected that line of business will see some deep cuts soon.

There will never be a one time 10k person layoff. Not because they don't want to layoff 10k, but because HR can't handle that many and more importantly, a slow grind of dumping 1000 every couple weeks is much more likely to get them out of paying severance to some % of that 10k as people feel despair and voluntarily quit. That's why it's a slow grind and has been for years. Maximum hopelessness and sense of doom is what they seek, because it drives voluntary attrition. The same number will be gotten rid of either way, it's just a matter of saving Hudson Yards money.

Yes I made up the numbers just like the id--t who said 10000 in Charlotte. Now we can all see the nonsense here. See how many upvotes my fake post got?

2500 in Minneapolis? If you are going to post such things, you should give a bit more detail about what sorts of roles are included. Otherwise it is just scaremongering and said for shock and aw factor. You just sent nearly 30,000 people into the weekend thinking they have nearly 10% chance of losing their jobs next week. Though we all live with that concern every week, this sounds downright ominous.

I'm sick of waiting for that severance, if they don't are me come Tuesday, I'm handing in my 2 weeks. Everyday is worst than the last and the 401k match isn't even worth it anymore.

WARN notices are avoidable and have been for WF on many cases except for a few instances…they get around it by providing the 60 day notice …etc …

The answer would be "No". Trust me, I speak on behalf of the leadership team.

speculation. they fail to realize certain states have a longer WARN period so the premise in some instances is not accurate. if you are on a layoff list your name currently resides in the displacement workflow. it is assigned to someone. just try to enjoy your weekend.
