Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Fearful

There have been multiple s-xual harassment, lawsuits, an employee arrested for up skirting videos, and another for aggravated s-xual as--ult. These are the things were made public, but the company never commented on any of them. Why are they not telling all employees that this is not acceptable behavior and creating a safe place for men and women?

There are so many people that are living in fear of their manager, or their boss’ boss.

We can do better

@5jog, I bet some of these "holier than thou" folks would be into it regardless. ALL sins are washed away every Sunday hallelujah!

IMHO the safest way to keep from getting harassed by any of these a$$clowns is to start wearing a dress and identifying yourself as a transgender.

That way they will not know whether you are still packing below and will be in for a very nasty and unpleasant surprise when reaching for your goodies.

A certain downstream site had an incident with an executive and one of the nighttime cleaning staff. Company ended up firing the entire cleaning crew to cover it up.

Speaking up about bad behaviors does nothing. Initially there will be some superficial fixes. But it’s nothing more than about protecting the company rather than protecting the individual from retaliations. Whistleblower are marked as a trouble maker.

Managers tell lies about the employee if necessary to protect or further their own careers. During the last few years, there is no mechanism to report bad behaviors. It was all about saving hides rather than caring for each others. There was no HR as they barely bothered with answering emails. The most you get is a survey which does not help. It’s really disgusting how many horrible people were retained and elevated. Lairs, self promoters, sharks, leeches, bullies, and predators seemed to thrive.

While most of the dead weight are gone , we also lost the best and brightest. Many good managers who kept an eye on these things either retired or were forced out.

It was not a safe place to work and the toxic culture was horrible. My bosses were horrible. The years I worked here still has taken a toll on my mental health. I suggest if you are in this situation, absolutely report it and leave this place. There are better places out there to work.

It does make you wonder how pervasive the issue is when we only hear about the offenses that make the news. I’d love for a reporter to pick this up. Someone who will not be deemed a troublemaker for speaking up for what is right.

Narcissism is the top-rated component among EM management traits. May sound counter-intuitive, but Sycophancy (b-m-sniffing) is the cousin of Narcissism.
That's the 2nd rated component for EM management skills.

Remember also - harassment of any kind is a Power grab.
Be it $exual or otherwise, it's a form of vioIence.
Not a gonadinal issue.
Cowboys, not Bullboys.

If you really want to change the culture, speak up about bad behavior

Thank you for your frank (AKA Weiner) comment. You are either in HR or PR, so no one here is buying your B$.

They should not comment. Law will address the person’s guilt and penalty first, EM will go from there. For everyone involved (colleagues, subordinates, teams, management), these individuals should be shelved. Time will come to part ways. Fo-e the most part, 99 % of the EM folks are decent people. Much better percentage than society itself.
