Pulse Survey Participation is more important than the scores. BOYCOT IT!

Coming from the top down

Pulse Survey Participation this quarter is more important than the overall scores

It's time to take advantage of this 'participation is voluntary' and NOT take it!

I have found in former groups I worked in people will complain and have reason to but don’t want their managers to get into trouble so fill in all high numbers.

My new group people aren’t really a team just hapoen to have the same manager and our scores aren’t good. I used to put N/As to be polite because I was new to the team but looking through the questions 1s would be more accurate.

Thinking that this survey is political, diplomatic, and highly sensitive year-after-year.

You are not forced to take these surveys. They can suggest you take it, but being it's anonymous they cannot tell who has or hasn't taken it. It is called a pulse survey to survey the pulse of the people at the company, not to survey how you feel. The participation is graded, not the scores.

You can just skip the questions and hit Submit.

Fyi, for those that want to do that.

Boycott is a bad idea. Why give your manager/supervisor a break by holding your silence? Voice your honest feedback, don’t let them get off the hook so easily.

They are going over 3rd quarter results and talking about how successful action plans that they never even told us about have been on my call right now. Guess I should give all 5s now?

They know exactly who said what and voted which way. That said, I did see a Director get completely jacked on the survey from his peeps, and his VP and HR made him have a hug it out session to get the score up. VPs ARE VERY affected by those scores. Beware.

I was forced to take the Pulse Survey. I hate taking it. The questions are geared towards you answering positively. The review of the surveys doesn't match the consensus of those around me. I do not believe ONE thing they say about those surveys.

I did not post the rebuff - re., people leader. However, as you can imagine it is hard and very difficult to believe anything has merit at VZ these days and the previous 3+ years.

Bottom line: VZ, dire straits and no blissful future but corporate bankruptcy as a result of all the executive's c-suite boneheaded decisions.

People leader just means you have direct reports. Are you suggesting I'm a bad leader? I just told you the truth, something that 90% of managers will never do. And that's a fact.

"As a people leader..."

This is the kind of clown show that is no Verizon complete with woke and broke linguistics. "People leader". There has not been ANY leadership at Verizon in quite some time.

I think whether they are impactful or not follows most rules in VZ that it varies greatly by department.
In my old department we got solid fours near top of the company and we still discussed action plans a bit and tried to make changed to help with concerns. A good group to work with overall.
My new department HRBPs just gathered “volunteers” for was all threes and it was just given a quick comment while they shared the results and never mentioned again. Nice people individually but the department I would never join willingly.

I think the survey should be weekly rather than quarterly.

As a people leader, I'm involved in reviewing the scores and verbatims with my director. Of our couple dozen employees, we can almost always guess who wrote what, but that said, it's because you've been complaining to us about it.

If your upset, you have to decide if you want your boss trying to cheer you up until the next pulse survey. If you don't want to be hassled, give all strongly agrees. If you want to get hit with a management action plan, give all strongly disagrees.

The pulse only asks about the company as a whole and your manager. You can always give your manager a bad score, but do you really want to anger your boss, especially if they have 5 or more direct reports and they can see that someone in their team doesn't like them.

They should ask this completely anonymously - all things being equal (commute, pay, days in office, flexibility etc), if you were offered the same job at a different company, would you leave? I'm guessing there would be a lot of yeses, and I'd be one of them.

This pulse survey is not going to make any positive differences, foremost in the VZ stock price, market share, and continued solvency of this debilitated corporation.

Forgone conclusion, that looming bankruptcy is the only option to fend of the creditors due to the boneheaded incursion of the enormous corporate debt. Declaring bankruptcy, sooner the better to save the jobs and the employees livelihoods.

There is merit in what, posted, as you have professed.

Conversely, there could be retribution because, however, anonymous, an employee can be absolutely 100% be identified.

The survey scores are impactful...trust me...fill it out and be honest...if everyone on your team fills it out honestly, you will see your management squirm. I've witnessed this first hand.

Who are the losers that keep down voting anything? A real survey would allow you to leave an actual comment so you can share your two cents. I come to work give it my 100% and leave at the time I am off. Verizon used to be a great company. Sad to see what it has become.

If you don’t do the survey, then you have no right to complain about anything.

If you won’t do the survey, what are you even doing working for Verizon?

The pulse asked if the company cares about my personal wellbeing. I guess you answer yes until they RIF you. By that measure, the only possible answer is yes.

But no, how can they care about our wellbeing while constantly RIFing people. If they were just transparent about their plans, people could weigh the risks of waiting to be RIFed or not or trying to time the RIF/severance to their next job or the severance running out to have a vacation.

But fundamentally, vz should stop worrying about our PERSONAL feelings. That's what has led to the division and degradation in our wellbeing in the first place.

The question should be - is vz pandering to its employees (and blackrock) helping or hurting vz's bottom line? And the answer is it's hurting it.

It’s no coincidence that VZ stock started to tank when company leadership started to push this leftist/progressive bs. When company leadership is more concerned about the social justice aspect than the actual business.. time to send them packing.

That is a fact. The $$$ dollars $$$ of your 'betters' are tied to how many respond to the survey. Just like cash bonuses are paid to VPs depending on how many 'check the box' du jour are promoted. One VP gets more than 6 grand a year for each woman he hires and promotes. Welcome to DEI on crack.
