Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

So many last day emails- that’s the fate of many existing employees

Sad to see performing people laid off .. I am literally having no motivation to continue in Cisco.

Useless management

Horrible place to work - toxic, negative, favoritism, discrimination. The People Team is the worst offender of their own. It is the worst job I have ever had in my entire career. The abuse the People Team imparts on their own is unprecedented.

Moral is bad? Ha ha ha. I was at Cisco for years, almost half my career and at a certain point it made more sense financially for me to wait for Cisco to pay me to leave. When I got the call, I was more than ready. I took a 6 month break and found a better job. Before anyone says “you rode the gravy train”. I didn’t. I worked my hiney off until I got that call. It impacted my health negatively. Nothing was for free. Looking back, it wasn’t worth it..I should have left to save my health. The toxic environment and 12 hr days almost ki-led me.

Wish we more performance based and cut the right fat. We would be a much stronger company.

Work at a company that delivers on time and on budget release after release after release and you'll realize that you have to get rid of almost all Cisco's staff, which is the easy part. You'll never be able to hire top tier talent to do nothing but bug fixing in horrid legacy code. You'd be amazed how many PhDs were su-kered into this and had to get another job months after joining Cisco.

As it is you still haven't created enough basic testing to see if all the subsystems in a box boot correctly before releasing the software and that's in long term support releases which should be more stable.

People speak in their native languages. Place stinks. It's like you are not in USA.
Welcome to Silicon Valley my friend. Love it or leave it :P

In high tech, Most H1B holders speak English to each other. You may not like the accent but it is still English with UK flavor.

I see some great and amazing people being laid off since they were on solutions that did not generate adequate revenue. Those folks would perform exceptionally well in areas that I see others do not even carry their load and are slacking off. Wish we more performance based and cut the right fat. We would be a much stronger company.

just leave. Agree, Csco no longer the same. Very tribalistic work culture. Nepotism driven leadership. Such a shame for a once great place to work.

@aep+1p8gOeO5 “ People speak in their native languages. Place stinks. It's like you are not in USA. wish I can find another job asap.”

Indulge in some racist abuse of foreigners and H1B visa holders who “take your jobs “ because you are too lazy to compete. That should make you feel a lot better!

No wonder you work for Cisco. Who else would hire bottom feeding racists like this.
