Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Kumar promoted to COO

What are the thoughts on timing and consequence? COO has recently been a stepping stone to CEO, is this a sign of things to come?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Frick being tied to Ford Blue will be his undoing. Kumar bailed, that should tell you something. Plus if you had your thinking cap on, you would know Model e has the top priority in the company and with Doug Field leading it, that gives him a much more solid platform to take over JF's position should it become open.

“Who is frick?”

Maybe try watching a Global
Town Hall or Building Ford Blue to get a clue.

Who is frick? What has he done to warrant being yet another promotion hire? Never heard of him before and neither has any of my coworkers.

I think this change is more about promoting Frick than anything else. Frick is (deservedly) on the golden path. This new oversight role for Kumar is just a home for 6-12 months before he calls it a career.

Kumar su-ks! He is just as responsible for the current $hit show!

When COVID started and everyone had to work from home, Kumar was in his condo with all white background and no pictures... I guess that's his style. Best Wishes to Kumar.

JF can "retire" back to the UK and help his wife with music and help his kids practice on the trampoline (recall the background in one or more town hall meetings during COVID)

Everything else aside, I'd love to see JF go. Kumar would be as good a replacement as any. When will all the smoke and mirror tactics catch up?

This is just another reward for poor performance. Ford Blue while yes, it funds the company, the quality and customer perception is in the toilet. And this Frick who is back filling for Kumar, my question “What the f$&k did he ever do?”

Over 2/3rds of those aboard the Titanic died in the sinking. Not great odds.

I'd be looking for a lifeboat now!

I think he's more like the skinny pirate in Captain Philips. "I'm the captain now."

Both Bill and Kumar have been facing the press in recent days, not Farley. The stock price is 86 cents above the 52 week low. Lightning and Mach-e are not selling, production volume is being cut back. Q3 results out next week likely to not be on target (especially the Model e revenue and net profit).

I’m pretty sure Farley will be packing up his office soon.
Let us pray…

Never really been impressed with Kumar in engineering reviews with him. Always calm, but never a guy who drove action and demanded excellence.

@OP Was thinking the same. JF downfall: 1. Betting too much on EV 2. Focusing on Tesla 3. Employees didn't like him (salary and hourly) due to his comments.

Just ask Mark Fields how this path worked out for him...

I think you are looking at it wrong. I see this as Kumar jumping ship away from the old legacy Ford products (aka Ford Blue) and getting himself involved in company level oversight. He knows there is a fading future in a job that is based only in ICE vehicles.

Goodbye Farley!!!

An engineer running the company’s day-to-day operations is a step in the right direction, but may be too late….

Won't matter. Ford will not exist in 2-3 years. Farley and Bill out there dropping the B word in relation to the labor negotiations is a huge sign. If paying people what they deserve is going to sink the company then the company is closer to the precipice than anyone knows.

I was hoping Farley would be gone sooner than later. This prolongs the pain.

It’s the beginning of the end of Farley, he will be needing to spend more time with his family soon.
