Elon cut over half it's workforce when he bought Twitter. It can be done.

AT&T just have too many workers. Need to reduce it's workforce and be more efficient.

T-Mobile is able to run their company with 70,000 workers.

They also spill their customers' social security numbers and financial details every year.

In September, they suffered their 3rd data breach of this year alone - exposing banking information and payment details of customers to other customers. This comes after forcing their customers to switch to debit card and direct deposit payments.

Did I also mention how badly they're shedding customers right now? Mike Sievert is sinking John Legere's entire legacy, and we should be thanking him. This is what happens when incompetent CEOs run a company.

I know the repetitive posts can be annoying, but this article would be worth a "sticky" if this was a moderated user forum. There's no mechanism for reordering popular or sticky posts here; it's strictly chronological.

The Layoff is a valuable resource once you wade through superfluous posts (yes, I concede this comment might be an example).

" Why does AT&T need so many workers? T-Mobile is able to run their company with 70,000 workers."

Stop posting the same thing over and over. It has been explained many times. TMO to AT&T is apples to oranges. Not a valid comparison for employee count.

Uh, because they are completely different companies. ATT is a conglomeration of tons of old bell companies, with tons of different business units. The combination of differing networks, platforms, tools, processes, partners etc is staggering.

You can't just flip a switch and cut the headcount down to 75,000 and expect sh-t to still work... It would take a long time to sort all that out to have it efficiently run with that few people. It's possible that you can backfill with contractors to prop things up during that transition, which it kind of looks like they are on that path...

AT&T should just get rid of the low performers. There are a few of us that are working hard and fighting for the company.

Yes, contract out work that is not part of core business. And lay off unneeded workers. Don't pay for workers that aren't needed. Running a business.

Keep Stankey, he is awesome for the company and employees. Stock price down, dividends reduced, assets sold, benefits cut, off payroll in 2 wks (management), relocation plan, continual layoffs, offshoring and contracting out, what’s not to like?

Get rid of unneeded workers. Right size the company.
