Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I don't want to be here in 2024

I've been trying hard to find something else but the job market is not that good right now. Still, my goal is to be out of T before next year. I need a fresh start and I need to like my job once again. T has nearly destroyed me with its toxic culture and the work environment where everything but merit is important. I'm done with it.

I can't stand it here anymore either, really.

That said, I still get paid very well and the job isn't that hard.

It's just the culture and morale that are tough. I joke all the time that it's not even that morale is "low" per se; it's that it doesn't even exist. If it was low, maybe it could be fixed. Look up "apathy" in the dictionary. That's this place (apathetic).

I see family and friends working at places that actually care about their people, and try and remember what that used to be like. There are some good people on our team, but at this point people are so beaten down they just don't care about anything or anyone. They would not ur----e on you if you were on fire.

Yes, Stank I realize I am not an "indentured servant" and I am free to go at anytime. But I'm going to keep collecting that paycheck for now, as I am not really willing to let you keep my severance. Do another MVO. You'll thin the herd quicker than you'd like to.

I don't really have much skills. I just want to be paid well while doing little.

T knows there's a lot of people that want to get out of this company, but also is aware that for the most part, don't want to leave without the 6 month severance package. People, if an opportunity presents itself to you, don't let T dictate your future. Grab the bull by the horns and just move on, get out of this toxic company that no longer wants you to be here. Make your own career path, don't allow T to do it for you!

Toxic culture is an excellent description of the AT&T experience.
