Soon we won't be able to hire new people for positions that desperately need filling. Think about it, who'd want to jump on board with BNYM at this point? I mean, seriously, look at our reputation right now - everybody knows management is layoff-happy and promotion and raises-shy. Only the worst of the worst and those who just got out of school still want to work here.

Obviously yet another University of Phoenix graduate unable to understand the word “biding”. We do not do ourselves any favors by hiring these graduates and even worse… the the even more fake diplomas from University of You. I’d hire a non high school graduate with a G.E.D. over one of these fake “colleges”. At least the G.E.D. does Indicate the ability to test out of senior year of High School.
NO divisions have 75% of engineers getting zero yearly increase. If an engineer doesn’t produce they are gone ASAP. Otherwise they’re treated like gold and can name their price to come back. Always.
BONY reputation was terrible. Laundering money for Putin, the bad bank of the world, destruction of records you name it. Unfortunately they bought and destroyed Mellon and destroyed all innovation.
How exactly are you “buying your time as long as you can tolerate it which isn’t much longer?” I personally am thinking of getting back in the saddle for some exciting projects.
Please tell me, how can I buy my time?
Career development only possible if you move between teams. Some divisions have 75% of engineers getting zero yearly increase . Almost impossible to get an ‘exceeds expectations’ performance review and even if you get one upper management will probably adjust it to ‘meets’ expectations . Forced ranking causes 10% of employees to get ‘below expectations’ and zero yearly bonus or increase, which is crazy in today’s environment . It forces managers to avoid small high performing teams.
An organization designed to reward the C-suite and demoralize the rank and file .
Our reputation has been messed up for years thanks to upper mgmt. this place was fairly decent back in the day now it’s disgusting . I’m buying my time as long as I can tolerate which isn’t much longer. Be smart and pay down whatever you can cause more layoffs are scheduled in December and January
First of all, management is not lay off happy. Secondly, lmao who's even getting reqs at this point to hire? I haven't gotten a req that wasn't either taken away from me or frozen in the last two years, even with new business
BNYM was never that prestigious of a place to work. Low pay, cheap office equipment and facilities, lots of red tape, and even the logo coloring is pretty ugly. New hires out of college would be paid less than 40K in high cost of living areas like NYC! The only advantage was that paid time off was generous and the work/life balance was pretty good - no fire drills over the weekend and things raised after 5pm could be dealt with in the morning. That all changed over the past few years so picture all the bad things i mentioned plus diminishing work/life balance. It's no wonder the turnover has been so high here.
Many people toil needlessly here when all you need to do is engineer your departure
Not a top talent destination. Low-balled salaries, poor benefits, displacing long-term employees, TOH out of touch with worker needs. All cause for low morale.
Mellon was the crown jewel of custody. BONY was the world’s bad bank for laundering money for the Soviet Union and organized crime.
Learn what you’re talking about and come back here to apologize.
BNY's reputation was prestigious. I think that went away after the merger with Mellon.
Lmao this will never be an issue. Go touch grass
It will take a little time until it reaches India so we are safe :)
