Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Discovery District

More restaurants are closing due to low sales. Dallas should have all employees come in 5 days a week and visit these restaurants. I always thought the beer garden would do well. Weren’t they also selling wine at headquarters?

The Discovery District looks scary and dangerous after 5PM, and on weekends. It attracts a less than desirable clientele. Hoping now that Jerry Jones and his Legends team are running the place, that they will pursue events and eateries that cater to a more desirable clientele base

To h3ll with businesses! I also “brown bag” & ensure I get fuel outside my RTO location area. More employees should do likewise IMO.

Maybe these restaurants should buy AT&T cellular and phone services to save our jobs.

The same thing is happening in many large cities where small businesses existed because of large populations of office workers coming in 5 days a week. COVID and Work From Home changed all of that forever.
Things change ..
Hardly anyone goes to a movie theatre now.
Big box brick and mortar stores are closing due to on line shopping.
People live in the south thanks to air conditioning
The number of people working as ice delivery people and elevator operators have decreased.
Things change.

Its actually the opposite. When I go to the office I bring and eat lunch in the cafeteria as I dont want to deal with the parking garage and traffic. When I WTH, I usually go out somewhere just to get out of the house for a few minutes.

Dallas, people just work in Dallas County, you don't live and entertain there. AT&T needs to seriously look at moving out of Downtown Dallas.

Discovery District? Right, it was built when Warner Media was in house. And it was going to be a great destination for the community - how is that working out on weekdays, weekends, nights? I don’t think employees can be expected to carry all the traffic needed for these restaurants.

WTF, yo. I'm not obligated to keep downtown businesses alive. I'm coming in 3X/week now and very intentionally NOT spending my money for that very reason. Not my job, not what I'm going in for.

Dallas hasn't been able to grow its CBD businesses and population out of ghost town levels for decades. Don't think me coming in 5x/week is gonna help.

The only reason anyone is pushing for folks to return to office is the fact that Corporate Real Estate is worth nothing without people in it.

When CRE prices go through the floor, so do the values of portfolios built around them.

I'm sure you can guess where the CEO's would have issues with the peasants costing them money. . . . .

They can move to the burbs and the core can rot. Nobody go to an office.
