AT&T to create managed cybersecurity joint venture

Per MarketWatch:

AT&T Inc. T plans to create a standalone managed cybersecurity services joint venture, the company said Friday. WillJam Ventures, a Chicago-based investor, has agreed to make a capital investment in the new business. “At close, the new cybersecurity joint venture will hold select security software solutions, associated managed security operations and security consulting resources,” AT&T said in a release. The company intends to keep an ownership stake and board representation in the new joint venture. AT&T expects the transaction to close in the first quarter of 2024 and didn’t announce further terms of it.

The sales leadership don't care about Cybersecurity anymore. All they care care about is gross adds and fiber ports.

The sick joke is that T had the upper hand in Cyber Security 10 years ago and did absolutely nothing with it. Complete and utter ignorance to the opportunity. They chose to focus on wireline products…go figure. They tried to play catch up by buying companies and it failed miserably. Unfortunately, this is and has been the story with T for far too long. The gauge is the stock price.

T would buy a good product from another company, peel the label off , put a T label on it, sc--w up implementation, destroy the billing and ultimately lose the customer. No surprise here…

So the carrier that is failing miserably to filter scam calls and texts wants to crate cyber security products.
Thanks but no thanks.

Buying Cybersecurity from T is like buying a Hot Tub from a used car lot. Not a single reputable CIO invests in T Cybersecurity products…..
