Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

He Knows Something

Would you buy $1 million in AT&T stock knowing Stankey is steering the ship ?.
Or would you buy it knowing he will be walking the plank soon ?.
Stankey will be leaving soon and the stock will pop.
As for employees, you are still stuck on the listing derelict vessel

I would've bought shares when it was in the $14 range. Make 7% on the dividends and wait until some growth appears. Dump the stock and start all over again.

If I had $1 million to buy AT&T stock, I would have bought them at $30 when they were doing well, then got mad when the stock dropped to $14 and sold.

If I had a million dollars handed to me I'd put them into money market funds making at least 5%. Then when the market takes another nosedive I'd move the money into SPY.

Do you even know what the stock market is? Or just here to complain for the sake of complaining?

Most mainstream financial advisors would advise employees of any company against allocating much or any discretionary investment in their company... too many eggs in one basket... need diversification.

Accepting performance stock, restricted stock, or stock options, or investing in company shares that provide a substantial matching contribution by the company should be supported by most financial advisors.

Have nearly zero in AT&T stock, move it to other investments in my 401k asap. Learned that lesson when Enron collapsed.

Employees certainly aren't required to own the stock, and are free to transfer right out of those T shares when they hit the 401K as the company match. As the financial advising company contracted by T for employees advises (just think about that for a minute).

A way to hopefully make the stock rise from an insider buy, trying to get others to FOMO, then when it goes up to his predetermined number, sell.

Maybe they're about to can Stank and he wants to be ready for the stock to double on the announcement.

These are the same people that keep Stankey around. If they buy, sell!

"but his buying at [AT&T] has not been well-timed," VerityData research director Ben Silverman told MarketWatch in emailed comments. "While the most recent buy represents a positive data point, Luczo's buying track record at [AT&T] just doesn't give us confidence, and [AT&T] insiders as a group haven't been smart buyers for the past decade."
