Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I haven't seen any posts from the HCL crew?

How has the transition been so far?

Unlimited vacation at HCL is for Senior Manager and above only. I am a Service Manager (was 7T at VZ) and HCL matched my VZ vacation time. Still get 6 weeks vacation, 6 personal days, they accrue, carryover are paid upon departure. Salary and benefits matched. Also get my sign on bonus this Friday and the retention bonus next year. And we just got an email that all HCL employees are now getting new iPhones and 5G wireless internet routers to work from home. Lovin HCL so far.

@3ubk+1pDwp1jQ unlimited vacation is a hoax. People tend to take less vacation when vac is unlimited. I’m also guessing there’s no such thing as carryover, so no large check for unused vacation when you leave the company.

Before you get too excited unlimited vacation is just a way for companies to payout less when you leave and many studies find decreases actual vacation usage too. best of luck maybe you’ll beat the average though.

Leaving Verizon for HCL has been a dream come true. HCL is run like a normal company, unlike Verizon which is circling the drain.

ps: I’m at the end of my career and do not fear a layoff. I welcome one.

HCL is the best career move that ever happened to me. HCL has better benefit coverage as mentioned by another poster and the bonus structure is fantastic. In April 24 we get our STI for Nov-March plus a retention bonus in Nov 24. And we get “unlimited vacation”. No limits.

Agreed.
I couldn't be happier.
My supervisors are cool. They leave me alone as long as I get my work done on time. And, I've gotten regular raises based on my performance. Since 2019 my salary is up over 50%.

False generalization, received continual annual salary increases based on performance.

All the folks that were moved over to Infosys have not had a raise since 1/1/2019.

My team at HCL just got Indian shadow employees assigned to learn about our customer accounts. This is likely the first step to them replacing us with offshore labor.

35 years with Verizon and I was ready to retire. Moved to HCL who matched my salary and benefits (the medical and dental benefits are honestly better at HCL). Doing the exact same job for the same boss and got a nice parting check from Verizon for lump sum pension (500k), unused vacation (22k), STI (16k), and Stock Together (12k). Severance at HCL is guaranteed same as Verizon for 2 years. I’m a happy camper.

There's a laundry list of issues from a personnell/HR side. Actual work stuff is the same which I think was about the only thing they planned ok. Plus first check landed in the right account, so no more worry there at least for now.

@xfn+1pDwp1jQ I wouldn't say that. 5 years post Infy, many of those people are still employed AND still on the VZ contract. Unknown what will happen if contract not renewed.

I've heard they received lump sum pay for any banked vacation time along with their bonus. A tidy sum for some. Hope they realize the chance of still having a job a year from now is very slim.
