Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford isn’t “struggling with employees”

You get what you pay for.

There is no way I’m staying past 5 or doing oncall for peanut pay here. The systems here su-k, people don’t do any code reviews and people just push to prod directly.

You want engaged people? Pay a market competitive salary and treat people well

If you are working at 8 or 9pm for this sh1t show, joke is on you. Have fun being over worked and underpaid

I thought my pay was fairly competitive but the raises over several decades were very poor, around 3%. I did get let go in August 2022 but that lump sum pension was worth all of the not so good stuff.

Disagree @1xqm Ford wanted to pay only 68% of salary current. IT in a specialized field. It sounds like a sxxx place to work with sxxx starting pay, sxxx raises, sxxx benefits, sxxx ongoing education and training, sxxx managers . Pass.

@1xqm+1pEyAwHh I disagree, particularly in the STEM fields, where Ford compensation is average at best. I can tell, because I am looking for my next job: even smaller companies are matching Ford salaries, with similar benefits (no pension).

The pay at Ford has never been a problem. Especially in the STEM fields.

And look at any Elon company. Your salary there would be higher but you would be expected to li e and breath nothing but your job. He currently expects at least 12 hours per day more than 5 days per week.

Makes Ford sound pretty good.

This post is coming from a very bitter person.
If you think you are under paid start looking for another job.
As far as the engineering field, the pay is very competitive..

Seems like it varies because my salary is above market rate. I just have little motivation to go above and beyond at this point because I've watched so many great coworkers shown the virtual door (management didn't even have the guts to lay them off in person).

Employees do what is rewarded. The engaged and go above and beyond employees are always the first cut at Ford. Those that remain @ Ford are paid more than what they are worth (based upon output and engagement). Yes there is a small percentage who are working hard, but not to worry the next cuts will rectify that.
