Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The ineptness level of those who thrive at AT&T is astonishing

The less you know, the less capable you are, the higher your chance of getting ahead is. It would be funny if it wasn't sad.

I can't wait to leave this disgraceful toxic culture propagated by SBC! ATT was never this bad before SBC came to town! Now, people only stay with the company because they have tenure and don't want to lose their vacation time and or pension or they can't seem to find work elsewhere because of their lack of qualifications! It's a dead-end street for a lot of T employees because they stayed too long and now they're stuck until the ax is finally bestowed upon them! Good luck to all that overstayed their welcome!

Nothing but who you are related to at Att.

It is who you know at T. I’ve seen top performers walked out before low ranked , politically connected people. It happens less today than it did 5 years ago, but there is still boys and girls club mentality in each business unit. I watched a clerk move to Director in 4 short years….it was not performance based.

Some people always complaining on others, never looking at themselves. Couldn't be me? Right?

You sound like you cannot accept your own failures so you going after the ones that have succeeded where you didn't. Sour grapes much?

“ From where I’m sitting, the ones who perform the best and work the hardest, are rewarded with the bonuses and promotions.”
Yeah, can’t say I’ve seen that. I know quite a few incredible workers that consistently are the top performers (metrics verified) and knock it out of the park on revenue and/or cost savings and are considered experts in their space plus have great people and team skills. Their job titles haven’t changed in 10 years, but their bosses have changed many times in those 10 years. You would think by now one of them would have climbed the ranks, but none have. Yet I’ve seen mediocre people climb the ladder consistently.

Too valuable to production.

" The ones who take credit for the work their underlings ..."

If you are a leader of people, and those people do good work...that is not only a reflection on the team-members doing the work but yes, also on the leader. Not sure why you would have a problem with this reality.

We have people like the OP on my team.

Truthfully, probably a smart and competent person.

Sadly, they are completely inept when it comes down to people skills, and knowing how to interact effectively. Instead, they sit and stew and grouse privately, and to other like-minded malcontents about how things are rigged against them. Never speak up or share ideas in a team setting.

Look in the mirror pal. You're the problem.

I’m not sure what org you work in, but I can’t say that's been my experience.

From where I’m sitting, the ones who perform the best and work the hardest, are rewarded with the bonuses and promotions.
