How likely is it I will get fired if I get below target end of year review?

If you have a degree/masters that makes you smart, right? So use those smarts to realize that Ford is a cr#p company to work for and get out. Anyone that gave a damn or had any decent experience have already been either taken out or took the pension buyout. Only douchebag a-s kissers were left. Then they promoted a bunch of diversity to get the numbers up so Bill can feel better about his racist, anti-Semitic family history.
Ford is not the company it was. It’s going to fail, it’s obvious. Better not get too much of your experience in just one company. When you do get let go, which you unfortunately will, you need a few jobs in different companies to boost your resume. 5 years per company maximum.

Some advice from someone at the tail-end of their career:

I would highly recommend that you fine tune your resume, future-proof you experience somehow towards the skillset that will be needed 10+ years from now and take some 'real' classes that build skills. I see even amazon / microsoft has free 'AI' classes, so anyone can do this. Even though this might not be the direction you want to go, it is just one example to not stagnate as that will lead to exportation of your job. This will also immediately open many doors to employment elsewhere, but caution as these new jobs are global like yours is now.

The jobs here are commodities, lets face it. Start you career journey by looking for a career while you are still young. The company's goal is to move 10-15% to LCC, yes USA jobs are leaving. We see that one job equates to $118k in savings from the chiefs department meeting where they shows total savings divided by people moved - wow. Chat GTP from microsoft that we have here (AI) is also going to ki-l many of these jobs, starting with HR - good that HR will be the first ones to go with this new technology. GM's first set of interviews is talking to a computer. You get flashed questions, then answer it to the computer - no human interaction.

My coworker from 15 years ago bought some rentals and now does that full time and is 100% out of the industry. Not that this is an easy route, but a way from not being enslaved to the man. Some long term goals for other income to not have to be so worried for income.

Amazing that one spends 4 years busting their behinds for that degree to find they will be spending the next decade to finding the way out. Unfortunately, it is way worse now than when I started. I tell you that I would be in healthcare or some other field if I could go back in time.

From a reliable inside source in HR: Regardless of your PR scoring or ranking within your department, there are several things you can do at the time of your unperson review to drastically help improve your final score within the department which in turn would mitigate any potential bad ratings up to and including being placed on the short list for termination. FYI most departments have a short list with people who could be terminated at a moments notice - typically, the LL5 or LL4 would manage. Before your unperson review you should consider the following topics to discuss and how you plan to promote with actions: Ford plus integration to your daily work, support EV rollout by market advancements, mentioning salary adjustments are not the main priority at this time, flexibility to garner more support of the future of working in a more collaborative open concept.

We are all going to get below target reviews because we aren't meeting the EV quota.

100%. Your boss is setting you up for lowered PR’s. They will lower it each time to have a proper legal paper trail and it also gives you time to leave.
