VTP coming in 2 weeks

Two weeks from this coming Friday will be VTP announcements totally welcomed by many who are so looking forward to gtfo with up to two year paid vacation and then retirement.

I have been with Bellsouth/T since 1998. I have never seen a group of "pretty ladies" at any Center or work site.

Lot of Leg T and LEC techs sitting around in their diapers waiting on VTP. At some point don’t stand on principle, enjoy the retirement life, don’t die at the phone factory. I’ve seen too many of my co-workers wait too long, retired and died within 2 years or less. Guess who is taking trips and enjoying life with the money they saved all those years? Boy did they show Stankey and the company, I’m sure their family had it put on their gravestone.

Not going to happen to me, leaving ASAP when I check most of the retirement boxes, VTP be damned. Hard to spend it when you are taking a dirt nap.

I'm not the OP but there's a lot of us hoping for the VTP in the next year because we want to leave with the 2 years pay in case we lose that in our next Leg T contract in April 2025. Many of us are ready to retire but we're not leaving until they pay us to leave and we believe that will happen eventually due to automation and off-shoring. We just want it sooner rather than later. C'mon people, OP can't be wrong about this "inevitable" offer. Oh, I forgot, they were wrong about it last quarter. And the quarter before that. But THIS TIME it is guaranteed to happen.

After the MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) expires that prohibits the surplus of Union represented technicians, there will be a very large surplus event. The company will have to abide by the Union contract. VSP=1 year pay to leave, UVSP=1.5 years pay to leave.
There are going to be very many AT&T technicians leave with a smile so big that they will need a "Grin-ectomy" to remove it.

Sorry if you only get a few weeks pay after you get tapped to "live your purpose"..

Hiring temp techs? That's funny right there. VTP offers could really get going if we get above watermark again. I gotta wonder though, next time the contract is up, doesn't it work to the company's advantage to keep the watermark high so they don't have to pay VTP? I don't know the answer to that. I hope you get it since as a tech I hope to get it someday too. Best of luck.

I really hope they offer one. Way too many people waiting around for a “package” that are far past eligible. I sincerely hope these folks finally get their wish and they better take it. But we all know it’s never going to happen

It would be wonderful if any bargained for employee was offered a VTP if they wanted to get out of T once and for all! Many of the bargained for employees that are ready to go are just hanging around to see if a VTP will be offered.

This inevitable surplus is for Leg T/CWA workers most likely with non-tech titles. It is guessed that the company will fill the "watermark" with temp techs needed.
