Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You simply don't question higher ups unless you want a Scarlett T for Troublemaker on your chest

You could stop a Senior VP from diving into shark infested waters and save his skin but they always remember you jumped rank and initially made them look bad in their quest to make their mark. No one at ATT is measured on performance or bottom line profit. They cook up metrics that never audit back to anything with Powerpoint Voodoo Magic. It's been that way forever. Add up all the results in all the VP's Powerpoints for a year or quarter and you will quickly see that Total ATT Revenue equals $10 while 6 VP's add up their revenue to $14. Nobody every questions it because that would be you again saving the company from shark infested waters. Within the walls of ATT it's all smoke, mirrors, and a shell game. You know who doesn't play a shell game? Wall Street and that's why the stock is a turrrrrddddd!!!!

Hey, don’t use that number because it is not accurate until next week. It gets updated twice a week and finalized on Thursday.

Can you make it finalize sooner?

No, because this measures a range of dates and we cannot tell the future.

How about updating it three times a week?

Honestly this is a conversation I had before with people who are now in my org. When I realized it was them, I figured my team will be pushed out sooner rather than later. Better to have something quick than something accurate. It is the coward’s way.

My AVP is famous for beautiful PowerPoints.... He cares most about aligned pretty fonts that exactly match from page to page. He su-ks up to higher ups so freakin obviously.

Kinda like when Randy said we were turning down TDM by 2020, but there were no efforts to accomplish it.

That's because he's too mentally challenged to understand the network.

TDM networks, mostly City and Government circuits. They keep paying their bills. Doesn't matter if it is on copper, their checks clear the bank.

Sweet.

Nice way to say you fear the VP's and have no clue what they do. Whine away.

I saw people getting into heated discussion about it. I told them to just nod your head and keep doing what you are doing.

Executives do not want to be told that their vision / timing has flaws. Just let them figure it out in their own, even if it costs the company a few 100 million.
