Thread regarding Ford layoffs

@ 1kbp don’t beat yourself up, once your name is on the list, your moves would be blocked or once moved you would be cut anyway. As others have said getting cut from Ford is no reflection on your skills or job performance.

Also be glad you have a running start on getting another job before the massive 2024-2025 cuts. They are coming. The parallel LCC staff have given the thumbs up that they are ready; the c-suite no longer believes they need to hold onto US staff just in case they need them; the c-suite is preparing to cut loose whole US departments many LL4 and below are on the chopping block. Economic forecasts and current sales data are not what the c-suite had hoped for.

Ford isn't in the business of giving people chances quite honestly. Therefore, it would be ill advised that you be in the business of giving them the best years of your career. Not sure where your tenure is at but if you are anywhere from 25-45 and in a moderately technical role, spend no more than 2 years at that company. If they don't turn something around in the next 3-5 years they will end up bankrupt. You'll see units of the business (model e 1st) go up for sale and a company like Tesla pick up the infrastructure to expand operations of their own. They fired most of the old engineering hands that had expert mechanical knowledge and the cost cutting has been systemic to the point it has effected suppliers because they have to do it as well. Combined result gets you a loss leader line of products (Mach-e, Lightning) as well as a the only reliable aspect of customer satisfaction being the amount of time they get their recall issues handled.

Ford didn’t even give me a chance. If I had gotten even the slightest hint that my management didn’t want me working there I would have found some other area that did. I knew of 2 other activities that were interested I having me move. Instead, June 27, I’m out.

I would have more respect for Ford if they had taken this tack instead of just cutting people randomly.
