Clearly I "Nope!"-d the he-l out of that opportunity. But it did make me think how unfortunate it is that management in its infinite wisdom, and out of sheer cruelty, axed the STAR program.

I have been displaced twice. And used the STAR program to continue my employment and save Wells the displacement cost. The old Wells Fargo had the STAR program to retain talent and offer continued employment for displaced staff. A smart and people oriented strategy for long term profitability. Wells has changed its strategy it is no longer a people focused company. Expense reduction at all cost appears to be the new strategy. The STAR program was an example of a strong people culture. Now we have this fake people culture as we tout all our diversity and inclusion efforts... In reality its still a bunch of white guys from New York running the show... and im a old white dude.
STAR was an amazing program that worked incredibly. When I managed a team I hired three people via the program. It had great positive feedback so Chuck ki-led it - we cannot have happy employees.
Former tech employee here. What was the STAR program? Was it something to get Wells out of the cap restriction?
sort of.. if you are on notice or severence and you apply for another job you cannot turn it down. Otherwise the only job you can be recalled to is the exact one you were laid off from. (otherwise its severance avoidance, a big no no)
If you are on severance you can turn it down. If you are in your 60/90 non working window you cannot as they have a right to call you back.
Are we allowed to turn those down if on severance? Wonder if anyone’s called me. My vm is continuously being bombarded since they gave my personal info away upon layoff. I don’t answer any calls now.
What job were you in pre layoff?
What was the pay? I’ve seen some offering less than I made before I left. Terrible job but it paid the bills for a while. Glad I moved on.
Regardless of Wells Fargo, that job itself would su-k.
"Thank you for the consideration but I'm in the habit of avoiding dumpster fires."
Yeah, ki-ling the STAR program was a load of S. At least we now know that the whole "we'd love to retain good talent..." lie was just that.
