Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I use to think Executives would be smart and on the ball

The longer I was with ATT and got more exposure to them then I realized that just a few select higher ups knew what was going on but more were there simply to protect self interests. When a company has no executive compensation tied into the share price then you know you have one giant malaise of an organization. Between the protected classes, compensation tied to fudged performance, and rotational nature of people being promoted it was one giant recipe for a dumpster fire. I figured this out long ago and simply collected the paycheck and benefits and had side hustles going. Covid was a blessing for me and my family because the side hustle is now more than my ATT paycheck and benefits combined. Now I am just milking this fat bloated cow for all that it is worth.

The main error in your post is that you assumed there were a select few higher ups knew what was going on. I don't think anyone at the top has a clue.

Intelligence doesn’t equate wealth, there are many smart people but it’s getting the right breaks that matter. The family and friends plan, lot of nepotism and sycophants are ingrained in corporation’s leadership and are a protected class. The proof is the company’s financial health and how it’s performed for the last decade, AT&T executives and BOD get a grade of F.

Stock significantly down, dividends down, assets down, employee head count down, benefits reduced or eliminated, negative employee policy changes, morale down, Blue Chip status gone, debt leverage is massive and on and on…..

If you are so smart, why aren't you making the money? Why hasn't anonymously criticizing executives working for you?

Same at any big company. The folks at the top aren’t the smartest in the room, just the best at playing the game. The smartest people are kept doing what they do and are rarely promoted, too valuable to production to promote.

C-suite compensation is not tied to performance. The stock is down 16% and 5G and fiber deployment is spotty!

C-suite execs are enjoying the perks, free healthcare for life and putting hundreds of hours on the fleet of company jets for personal use!
