Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Many of you are only thinking in your own world

First off, the bad characters that took advantage during the pandemic made us all look bad, and unfortunately caused this corporate decision. Flexibility should be the future. Many daycare facilities closed down and now it’s much more expensive. Elderly care is much more expensive. Personal care is much more expensive. Stop looking at this from a “me” perspective. This isn’t an “I” situation; it should be a “what works “ situation for everyone. “You” and your thoughts are narcissistic. Think about your teammates. Not everyone is blessed financially. The pre-pandemic world is gone. There is no normal anymore. We should all adjust and adapt.

It's always a "Me" situation. Stop being blinded. Companies want you to think it's a "we" situation where they use us against us. It's financially driven and those that have been here for 20+ years are the ones that are most vocal about being back at the office.

COVID proved that at remote work works and is more efficient. Companies made the most money during the pandemic.

RTO has nothing whatsoever to do with productivity. Nike has been full of slackers forever. It has everything to do with Nike’s real estate investments and their tax breaks from Oregon. Pretty disgusting when you think about it.

The same people that are slacking remotely were slacking in the office before and will when they return. If they were hired during the pandemic, then their output isn’t being managed appropriately or they’ve been left to “create their own role”.
The art of looking busy has been around since the beginning of time.
Considering employees on other platforms discuss they don’t know how to prioritize their tasks or even know what they’re working on, screams to me that managers aren’t managing. This problem was around before the pandemic and will continue back at the office as well.
I work with teammates, under other Managers/Directors, that have never had a CFE. They have zero direction or guidance with constant 1:1 cancellations. Considering many people report to different Managers or Directors in other buildings, RTO will not fix these issues. These issues were around way before the pandemic as well. This also means that IDPs aren’t being discussed which is concerning as well for growth.
From a personal perspective, I agree that flexibility should be the future and the new generations will demand it and rightfully so. With that said, Nike should be focusing output KPIs accountability instead of location of work for long term success and growth.
