Severance agreements

I have never been through this before. I have my severance offer in writing and some other helpful documents, however I have to sign a severance agreement that won’t be sent until next week.

Does anyone know what is generally in a severance agreement? I want to start making moves but don’t want to risk severance. Feeling a bit paralyzed we have to wait 10 days for the rest of it

You can get a new job while you’re on the waiting period (while you’re still in the system but formally not terminated yet), however, don’t make that public. That could make them revoke your serverance. Also, make use of the Right Management off boarding support. Nike will likely give you 6 months of career coaching through them. Make sure you ask about it because when I was laid off, they weren’t clear about this benefit but it should be available to you. Use it to find a better job - I did! It’s a world-class service and I’m really thankful for it.

Have you ever heard of anyone losing their severance for a mistake? It’s so much information I’m worried I’ll sc--w myself somehow

Protect yourself. Get an outside party to review any documents before signing them.

"an employment attorney review it too." Complete waste of money. You can sign it and get the severance or you can not sign and get fired and nothing.

Suggest you don’t sign anything until you review it and have an employment attorney review it too.
That’s what I did- they didn’t find anything irregular but it did give me some peace of mind. They will likely agree to pay you ( and your insurance) for a fixed amount of time and want to limit who you can work for in that time/window.
They’ll make you sign or resign an NDA but they can’t keep you from working anywhere unless they agree to pay you.
