Your daily reminder that everything the company tells its employees is a lie.

Every time I take the required required Code of Business Ethics course online, I have to sturdy myself. If I was of weak constitution, I would be a Stankey fanboy. Since I am not, I just click though this PLE nonsense.

I understand the rules are for thee, not for the C-Suite.

None of this is remotely surprising or exclusive to AT&T. With very few exceptions, no matter what a company presents as its ‘values’ to employees and the public, its real priority is what is good for the bottom line first last and always.

That’s why I never give to company PACs and the like and I always take these ‘we care’ messages with a huge grain of salt especially when they talk about minorities, LGBTQ and the like.

It’s also why I kind of ignore stories about Gen Z workers prioritizing a company’s mission and the like. They will learn that that is not how the world works if they want to have a paycheck or they will need to start their own business.

When a company has to choose profit or principle, very rarely, especially in the case of large companies, will principle win.
