Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If WF prioritized HR

  • Productivity will go up, increasing shareholder value
  • Innovation would happen more frequently, increasing shareholder value
  • Employees will know their value to WF and vice versa (to bolster the next point)
  • Headcount add/removes can happen in realtime, increasing shareholder value
  • And there is way more than that, but since everything gets reduced to talking about shareholder value, maybe we can start here.

A healthy HR department is an absolute win-win for the company and the employee.

It is incredibly myopic that HR is treated by execs with the same disdain as one might think a Liberal Arts degree is worth in the real world.

And for those that don't know, HR is not out to help you they are there to protect the company. They aren't your friends.

Maybe HR policies but everyone I've met that works in HR is completely overpaid and incompetent.

As someone who’s in HR now I can tell you morale here has never been as low as it is now. Cost cutting is the only priority for 2024, everything else is secondary.
