Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How many people on here actually like their job?

I'm just curious because there is so much negativity here all the time that it feels like every single person who works at Intel hates it. I personally don't. I'm worried about layoffs, that's true, but I also do enjoy my job and I hope I'll get to do it for a long time.

It definitely depends on the group, and manager. I have been at Intel 31 years so have been through it all pretty much. I have had bad managers, directors, even CEO's, but it all comes down to your own experience. Intel has been good to me and my family, through the ups and downs. I do believe in Pat's vision and the company will improve its revenue stream and legacy income, as well as cutting edge wins. Problem is, it takes years to build new fans, so of course the problems are exacerbated. But Intel still has the ability and capital to move the needle, so I fully expect an amazing future.

I’m actually happier now than at any point in my 28 year career. In our team I haven’t experienced any backstabbing or other negative behaviors pointed out above. While I’m sometimes frustrated with management decisions they seem to be made in good faith.

My only real concern is if Intel can break out of the recent tailspin. I’m not expecting us to beat NVIDIA or TSMC so just hoping we can slowly improve to a solid #2. I see both positive and negative indicators. Time will tell.

I sure don’t
They got rid of my favorite people last year and left me alone to pick up the work left behind
Only one didn’t trash their paper trail in anger
Thank you Jess

If you’re one of the guys working 1 or 2 hours a day making 250k+ then who wouldn’t love their job? If you’re working 40+ hours a day and getting paid less than 100k you’re getting screwed.

I love my job. I left the intel dumpster fire in 2020, so that might have something to do with it.

I like my job function. It's the horrible management surrounding it that makes bad.

Specifically, which part of your job do you like OP? The toxic culture and work environment? Your self-promoting, backstabbing colleagues? Your clueless, inept manager? The constant lies, gaslighting and propaganda from top management? The always late, over-hyped and under-performing products? Please do tell us.

Every single employee and companies that left Intel are happier, healthier and even wealthier like Apple. Only low tech skills left at Intel to collect paychecks and mess things up for job securities.

I think it depends on the group. For instance in general , wafer TD used to be really toxic compared to packaging TD. It might be less toxic since AK took over. I will say it can be frustrating to deal with people who care too much about image and want a full blown analysis just to propose an idea. We need people to share ideas earlier so that they can be improved upon earlier. That’s innovation.

If you have any skills you could work for another company with much better growth prospects and still love your job.

Intel is a career dead end.

You must be either new to the current work you are doing or are very young. After working in the technology industry for 25+ years, I am tired and now only working to get a paycheck as most are. Many of these companies drain the life out of you after working for them for so long. It's the same management mistakes that always cause the employees their jobs. So in the end, you give up and can't wait till it's the weekend and only working for the paycheck and healthcare insurance.

Loving your job has absolutely nothing to do with the outlook of intel.
The question you should concern yourself with is: Who is going to hire you when intel lays you off at age 55?
