I'm desperate to find a new job but somewhere much smaller than T. I'm fu--ing tired of people who don't know half as much as I do about the job I'm doing and who have zero experience in my field telling me how to do things. Correcting me to do something the way it's not supposed to be done and then blaming me when things don't work out. I'm so done with all of that cr-p.

Not going to get any better, the company won’t spend any money for training. They only want to use PLE, LOD with 30,000’ overview. When does one have time while trying to complete a work list and meet dashboard metrics. New managers with reports are even in a worse position, their competent peers have retired, laid off or been moved to another position.
I had a manager for a couple months on a special services crew that couldn’t read an osslog, a service order or word doc. He bragged about being an inside wire SME. When upper management rids the company of these incompetent buffoons the stock might go up. You have to start somewhere.

It's how they 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 it done, but in most cases there are multiple ways to get a job done. He-l, at one point I was filling out three different kinds of timesheets for vacation because different parts of the company each had the "need" to do it their way.
No surprise that a system tried and true to developers IRL like Stack would be tossed just because some exec wants our internal AI tool up and running with more content. Stack can be a pain but at least it doesn't hallucinate.
It's sad to see how in some high-tech areas folks still use 1990s tools and techniques because in telecomm, "that's how we do it."
You have something in common with AT&T leadership. They also want you out.

Some advice for you; while I understand the frustration. I’ve worked at several companies that are far more advanced in processes and technologies than here and yeah I get it having seen how it’s done better at other places. However, humility can go a long ways and you probably don’t know what you don’t know. Yes, some things here are totally backwards, but there’s likely a reason it’s done how it’s done (tech limitations, glitches in how things work, desperate systems, backroom agreements, etc. Do what you can and listen to how folks want it done. Likely you aren’t doing it how they need it done and that’s why the micro-management, they just won’t tell you directly. Figure out how it works and propose some ways to improve the process or system. Just some thoughts.

Craft managers in Houston are all promoted pretechs that have no clue how the plant is run . It’s really sad .
If they would ever listen and stand up to upper management, they would be shocked how well things would be.
When crews have no manager at times that crew usually has the best numbers that month . Go figure.
If you think smaller companies would be better on any of those points, I've got a bridge to sell you.
