Any government-led push to force consumers to buy EVs is doomed to fail. America isn't Europe. The whole climate-change stupidity is a totally manufactured crisis. Of course the Earth's climate changes over time. There are many places in the world that are covered in snow that were green thousands of years ago, and vice-versa.

There was a Saudi oil minister who famously said, "The stone age didn't end because the world ran out of stones. Neither will the oil age end because the world runs out of oil."

The oil age will end when there is a better alternative. The current class of EVs are not a better alternative. Their energy still comes from oil and coal burning plants. If every EV could be charged by solar power or something like that, then you would have a compelling argument.

The real villains here are the governments filled with misguided id--ts that cost companies like Ford billions of dollars because they pass rules which are not based on hard science.

“Every automaker was so aggressive with their plans,” Jessica Caldwell, Edmunds’ head of insights, said. “We’re seeing those being dialed back to better match where consumers are right now.”

General Motors CEO Mary Barra remains committed to the company’s targets, so long as consumer interest is there.

Anybody with common sense knew years ago of the issues going EV, and that there wasn't enough consumer interest, at least not at these prices. Still, the automakers are now in hot water, after spending billions in a dream, while the CEOs are cashing out millions for their "leadership". This is what is wrong with corporate America.

I strongly believe in capitalism, but we are not living in a fully capitalist society. Capitalism was founded by the owners of businesses, not by their administrators or CEOs. There was a time when the captain would go down with the ship. Now, we have a bunch of monkeys making wild predictions and lying while receving millions, and if the predictions failed to happen, well, too bad for the company, while these "captains" move to another companies and ruin them too.

Maybe is time these CEOs and politicians should get a very basic salary, and a delayed compensation for their "leadership". The same that happens to workers with vesting share options, when they have to wait years to cash out. That way, there is an incentive for long term health of the company, instead of trying to manipulate the stock price in the short term for the bonuses.
