The best teams have leaders/players that have come up through the farm system and have a passion and loyalty to the team. MP, EH, ES. Bringing in a superstar disrupts the team chemistry and often the superstar wants the system to conform to them with little thought to what has already been built. Rarely produces desired outcome and loyal team members often lose or get traded to another team and make those teams more successful. Rough patch but Nike has been through these before and will get through this one.

This is good but just replace “superstar” for “someone who doesn’t know what they are doing”
