Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Upcoming Layoffs?

Has anyone seen this article? https://investorplace.com/2023/10/ford-layoffs-2023-what-to-know-about-the-latest-f-job-cuts-oct-19th/#:~:text=Ford%20(F)%20layoffs%20are%20coming,Auto%20Workers%20(UAW)%20strike.

I wonder if the 4600 layoffs will be salaried or are they referring to more hourly cuts? Any ideas?

@2npr+1pbWVOyN I expect no salaried layoffs this year, but maybe we'll see contractors let go in Xmas. More workload for the ones remaining.

As for salaried layoffs, it doesn't seem like anything will happen this year. The possibility of some retirements December 1 (for lump sum), the unknow impact of the UAW strike and maybe a shift in portfolio strategy (EV's later, rather than sooner) seem like factors that will delay any more layoffs until April-June 2024. I can't recall (though I haven't been charting these events), but has any layoffs in the past 10-15 years occurred this late in the calendar?

The article is referring to hourly layoffs. If a striking plant is unable to produce components a non-striking plant needs, they temporarily layoff the employees at the non-striking plant
