Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups over an issue with the heater module.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the electronic cabin coolant heater module may be missing a solder joint, which can cause intermittent or no cabin heat and result in an inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 103, “Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems.”
The hazards: an inoperative windshield defrosting and defogging system may decrease the driver’s visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Affected vehicles: select 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning pickups built between July 27th, 2023 and August 30th, 2023.
Number of vehicles affected: 929
The fix: dealers will replace the electronic cabin coolant heater, free of charge.
