Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Applying to other jobs internally

How do I do a lateral job transfer without alerting my LL6 who is a typical desi spouting technical nonsense usually?

You can’t. You’re supposed to get approval before applying for a position and your people leader will get an email when you apply. A good friend applied for a lateral move without first talking with their people leader and got their a$$ handed to them shortly after. They were not allowed to move and were walked out in the next round of layoffs.

@1iwg Ford Blue funds your paycheck. Model e decreases our bonuses.
You seem to need a financial education.

If you are in a non-Model e organization like Ford Blue, by all means you have a right to bring up your career growth and future to your LL6. Most will realize that a job in Model e will help you in job satisfaction and future growth. If your LL6 puts up a wall, move on to your LL5/LL4 which I have found are more receptive to ones personal career path than a LL6.

It's just about impossible. You can maybe go to a different supervisor, under your current manager, but they will not likely let you leave the department. If you have evidence of wrong doing, that may help, if you go to HR and ask for whistle blower protection. Save any originals (for possible later release to the media and your lawyer), in case they retaliate.

You have to let whoever is your direct management know before applying. Anyways, they will get an email when you do....If you get a promotion from your current status, let's say you are a GSR7, and you apply for a position that is a GS8 they can't stop you, unless they match you in a GSR8 role.

I’ve heard there are rules where they can’t block you indefinitely from transferring, especially if the group you are trying to go to holds the position open for you for 6 months or something. Not sure if this is still true though.

I don’t think you can blocks notifications to your LL6, unless you somehow remove them from your CDS profile as your direct manager. Or maybe they won’t see it if they don’t read their email?

You will just get blocked and targeted for the next round of dismissals. Quietly look for a job outside and leave.
