Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

If history is an indication, this is the week

Last several years we have seen RIFs on the Thursday of the last pay week in October. That is this week, October 26. Good luck to all

RIF me please. I regret not taking VSP. Done with cleaning up SPO messes, let them handle their own mistakes. At least US based SPO could explain what was needed. Now all hear is: “Actually”followed by non sense, half the time they can’t even tell me the customer information.

At this point I’m staying out of spite. I’ve already started doing the bare minimum after the last RIF. Everyday day they keep me on the books is just me wasting their money.

VZ wireline are getting 5000 off the books Oct 31 with the re-badging to HCL, and that's just chock full of levels of management, gotta be somewhere around $35-50 million, and with the benefits that go with it(certs, training, tuition reimbursement, good health care, good 401k w/matching, bonuses, no vesting after '23, etc) it's approaching $50-65 million. That might be enough for October.

With the amount of debt Verizon is in no one is safe, but it does seem middle management insulates its self by layoffs to frontline workers. There is no need for a three tier directors in any company. With the salary and bonuses they could save major cost by getting rid of some of those tiers.

With the pending layoffs, that management won’t acknowledge is coming, the morale is taking a major hit with frontline employees. Without knowing the thought process behind the selection process everyone has some level of anxiety that they could be laid off this coming week. How about we cut some upper management positions and save the frontline workers that actual move the company forward each day.
