Thread regarding Ford layoffs

My LL6 is a clueless mo--n who I don't respect

I dislike working under him and want to move out. How do I do this without getting fired?

What @1gak+1pdMn9cC said is correct.

OP, will your LL6 mind if you move to a different group? If not, you could get her help in moving. If not, you do not have much of a chance because you will be blocked if you apply.

Whatever you do, DON'T apply for another position without talking to your LL6. She will get informed the moment you apply.

Just wait it out. Your manager will be promoted soon enough.

@OP. There is no point in moving yourself to another part of the company. Sooner or later, a reorg will change your manager, moving the one that you hate or like into another part of the company. Life at Ford is like a box of chocolates: you never know what LL6 you're gonna get.

Your best chance is to find an LL6 or above that really wants/needs your skills in their group. Then they can pull you from your current group. You may get blocked at first, but if they really want/need you, they will eventually get you out.

You can’t. If you complain or try and move, you will be on the next layoff list. Just quietly look for a job outside the company. At your exit interview, just say everything was unicorns and rainbows so you don’t burn a bridge and just give another reason for leaving like need to be closer to family or something. Sorry, but this is the reality of the situation.

Each org has a different culture. I can help with some ideas based on the org you’re part of (i.e. PD, IT, MFG, etc.)

Apply for a position in a different org.

if you work for a mo--n.. most likely he works for mo--n, who works for a mo--n, who works for a mo--n... 7 layers up. most likely you are also a mo--n yourself. so either quit and go somewhere else or accept it.
