I make 30% less than my counterparts at other tech companies who get much better perks, stock options and colleagues who aren’t sitting in Bangalore unable to speak proper English

Ford isn’t a tech company? Why compare yourself to more talented peers at better companies? Ahh damn I make 3000% less than my peer who is CEO of Tesla. See doesn’t make sense
if you knowingly work for 30% less, then you are either stupid or incompetent or both.
I am not underpaid at Ford, but my skills are eroding. There are posted jobs out there paying less than I am making now, and there is a fierce competition for the few ones paying similarly to mine. I am probably at a disadvantage now, since I am part of the 50+ multitude.
The job market is not great right now, and I expect it will get worse. According to many "experts", we are heading to a shitstorm, with a global economy shock. Sometimes I wish to get it over with the famous recession, so businesses start hiring again and I can leave Ford behind. I am afraid that Ford will dump me before I can make the switch.
My advice for the "youngters" (and the not so young): find a job in another company, better yet if outside the automotive industry. The auto industry is between a rock (government regulations) and a hard place (inflation). The auto industry is going to suffer, and Ford is not looking right now as a winner (or a survivor).
No offense but if you are in tech at ford don’t compare yourself to your peers at tech companies. You won’t have the skills to make it. Maybe 1/20 that jump from ford survive anywhere from automotive
If you are under 50 years old, jump ship and get a better job with other companies.
I am ok with my pay at Ford. I put in a couple of hours a day calling into WebEx. I have time to do my side businesses. All good for the last 5 years. Let's keep it that way.
