Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

You're joking, right?

The privilege on some of these comments is incredible. I was laid off this year after nearly a decade, and you're up in arms because you have to potentially go back to WHQ one more day a week (like most of us did for years and years)? Please leave, then. Open a spot back up for me. I was there because I made a deliberate choice to pursue a career at Nike. Nike had meant a lot to me and my life. I'm not one these rich transplants looking for the next notch on their career belt. They're all still there, complaining when they have to do actual work more than 4 hours a day, and I'm here struggling to find any equivalent work.

Get the he-l over yourselves.

Getting laid off at Nike was the best thing to happen to me. Since 2017 I have been promoted multiple times and almost tripled my salary since leaving behind all that Kool Aid. You need to get over yourself Nike isn’t even a cool place to work anymore it’s just a cult to you at this point from how you sound. Is that why you love and worship this fake corporate Nike? The real Nike died years ago.

RTO is a planned attrition strategy. They're hoping 10-12% just quit.

It's a shoe company that makes products designed to wear out so that you have to replace them with the new color, usually in under a year.
Built in overseas factories by labor that makes meager wages to support extended families.
It's a big brand, but built on the backs of innovators that have moved on. New, motivated innovators are eating up market share.
So don't get so worked up about having to go sit in a multi-million dollar glass and concrete building and walk by a scenic lake at lunch on your way to work out at world class gyms for free.
If it's more important for you to work in your pajamas from your couch, that's your choice.
Just know that you are just a name on a line at pretty much any large corporation, and especially at Nike.

Lesson for all the kiddos. This is why you shouldn’t invest your personality & self-identity into where you work.

They don’t care about you. You are the cheapest body they could put in a seat.

Heck. Nike isn’t even maverick Nike anymore. We’ve been run by apparel fools (the suits that ruined Macey’s) for the better half of a decade already.

You’re crying for a company that hasn’t existed for years.

Are you seriously attacking your former colleagues instead of the heartless ELT and BOD who laid you off? Stop being such a bootlicker and get a personality that isn’t defined by your job.
