Thread regarding Ford layoffs

When do the salary furloughs start?

Being that Fartley and Bell’s Palsy Bill have failed miserably to negotiate a contract with the UAW and the fact that the company is losing money hand over fist, when do they start furloughing salary employees?

Ford salary employees are clueless. They have no hands on experience. They can only take notes, work on Excel spreadsheet, and PowerPoint presentation.

What a bunch of useless salary employees that I have seen at Ford. No wonder Ford products are so bad in quality. When you try to copy other companies design instead of create your own, your products will be sh---y. Look at what China did for many years. Now that they can create their own designs, their cars are better than the American cars.

@1qkj+1pfSvk0r That's a really odd take, moving from a 9% salary increase to a 23% increase is hardly a failure. That's without even talking about the other things that they are getting that weren't in the first offer.

The most recent video from the UAW president is pretty on point if you look objectively. The companies have been saying that you can't squeeze more out of turnip, but they keep offering more. They have all put out statements about the union being unreasonable, that they won't be in business and are at thier top offer, then they offer more.

The whole thing is quite surreal. If you're going to come out strong and say you absolutely can't offer more, then you need to play hardball and not offer more. Instead, they do offer more, because they were fibbing.

The $15 billion dollar loss Chris Farley's cousin mentioned Ford would have had if they had this contract 4 years ago? First, any data spanning COVID is a joke, but beyond that, he failed to mention the dividend paid $0.50 more than usual because of record profits, or ~$2 billion dollars. Not to mention the other normal dividends that could have been held off like Mullaly did. Also didnt mention the stock issued to executives(further diluting), the stock buy backs ($750 million), the billion dollar train station, the $10 billion dollar campus transformation. God only knows how much was wasted on self-driving. Far more than $15 billion there, and that's off the top of my head.

Cry me a river. Ford would be better off with the other Farley, may he rest in peace.

Ford tried to furlough salary employees to help out at some other plants in the past. Most salary employees have no idea what to do. They just stay for the free food, hotel, travel expenses, and overtime pay. They did nothing for the plants. What a d-mb idea from Ford leadership.

They sent people there just to say that their team is helping out and they can look good. Some got promoted for doing nothing.

Wow. What a great company.

Ford should be putting their salary employees in their assembly plants and putting the UAW out on the street. It would be a good opportunity for your engineers to resolves some of the ongoing issues that you are having by getting the union our of the way.

Salary is already furloughed without being furloughed in some ways. Jogging in place just waiting to be laid off possibly. Can not plan on any fun purchases, trips south. Murky waters temporarily.

Given that the information is incorrect a significant amount of time, your guess is as good as anyone else’s.

OP: Excuse me, UAW failed miserably to negotiate a contract. It is just give me, give me, give. Go run and business and see what happens.
