Looks like the UAW strike is ending.
Does that free up Ford to start reducing the U.S. salaried workforce?
If I say that there are going to be involuntary separations next week, I’d get the usual, “What’s your source?”
If I say, “There are no salary layoff planned for this year...", don’t we need to ask the same question?
"There are no salary layoff planned for this year..." since when are those plans ever revealed. When they say there are no layoff planned, there are layoffs planned.
Agree with the comment above that you have to be prepared to get let go. No job is safe, and if performance kept you employed that would be a perfect world. Be prepared and have financial war chest to hold you over. No one is coming to save you.

In August 2022, the LL5s that didn't get the axe found out the Wednesday before. It is conceivable that an LL5 child have been let in on it.
So keep sticking your head in the sand and stay in denial. Putzes.

Exactly. 2018 SRP the 4s found out when their ll3 walked in that morning. Most LL5s don’t even know their head from their you know. If an LL5 told me anything correct I would go but a lotto ticket
Maybe it is different in other organizations but In my experience with layoffs since 2019 the LL5s and LL6s usually don’t know. Only the LL4s and above only know when and what is going to happen.

I'm prepared to be released if it happens. Anyone thats salaried and worked for Ford any amount of time should be prepared for it. It's the nature of business at Ford. That said, I have no confidence that the company is going to get better after this UAW fiasco. There's no way you can have factories full of $40/hour workers that pull the kind of cr-p they do in the plants and still be competitive. Nevermind that my salary keeps backsliding in terms of the economy. As much as the line workers like to brag about their worth, they won't have anything to build if Ford can't keep its salaried workforce stable.

It’s pretty obvious that Ford intends to move engineering to India, China, Mexico and Brazil; and slash the U.S. salaried workforce to the barest minimum.
The question is, when?
Everyone should get their employment affairs in order and be perpetually ready.

I don't see how automakers survive the demands of the UAW. Cars are already way to expensive for most consumers and things are about to get interesting. The automakers want to buy off the remining senior workers to buy time, but time is running out.
