Sounds like a customer problem. There is proof it was cashed, not with Wells Fargo. This isn’t the banks fault. The news needs to dig deeper before posting non sense.
That's not what happened or how it happened. You seem to have a reading comprehension problem.
Is there one OP who just goes around posting absolutely irrelevant customer experiences? This is why no action comes from the real negative situations, flooded with nonsense like this.
The article its-self absolves Wells Fargo. Customer attempts to deposit check via mobile app, it works (because that's what happens with accounts in good standing, the bank pseudo-fronts the deposit), then later the customer realize the money doesn't exist then attempts to re-deposit(?) the same checks only for it to fail again.
There seem to be a lot of d-mb people in the world who bank with Wells and then get stories written about how they've been done wrong. The checks went to a Chase account. That customer better review the chain of custody on that check. Not like the originator of the check can't get an image of where it went and who it was deposited to.
