I hope they have a plan, other that laying off people.

The game plan for L3HARRIS is to reduce the workforce by 10 percent across the board. That means about 4,500 people company wide. They would save millions in pay and benefits. Corporate geniuses figure the remaining workforce will adjust to 9 people doing the work of 10. Trouble is most of the people that were laid off were experienced people who were carrying 3 or 4 social justice remedy employees who didn't really do anything. All while long time customers are slipping away. Oh well . Stupid is as stupid does.
For now, workforce reductions will free up cash and drive the stock prices up temporarily. but, the company is not getting contracts. How many people can you lay off before it stops working for you? The MCAs and CCAs from the clean room here in Clifton are still failing at the rate of 50%. The workforce that remains here is a pathetic shadow of what it used to be. You can hire stupid but you can't fix it.
“Verizon scored yet another mammoth government contract win, securing a $2.4 billion deal to upgrade the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) telecommunications and information management systems. The award represents new business for the company.
The contract carries a 15-year term if all options are exercised. It was awarded under the agency’s new FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) procurement program. FENS is replacing the old FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) contract system, which dates back to 2002. Verizon won the FENS deal away from Harris Corp., which held the FTI award.” The L3Harris instructor was let go from AT&T before he was pension eligible. Should of kept his nose to the grindstone.
Yesterday I was officially let go. Over 17 years of service. I was one of two. The other, over 20 years of service. Shocked? A little. Happy? Kind of. Severance? Not a penny, while I was full time for most of my career, I went just shy of full time to care for my kid. This was the only part that really angered me. That made me feel more worthless then being laid off. Supposedly they are looking into it, but I won't hold my breath.
In Clifton, the director of electronic warfare operations left the company earlier this month. The director of manufacturing operations is leaving Monday. It is assumed both of these directors are leaving voluntarily. Elsewhere at this location, project managers, and planners have been let go as well as a number of people from depot ops. Human resources has been very tight-lipped about how many people have been laid off but, the general consensus is that the number is over 30. So far, the unionized assemblers and testers have not been affected. However, there have been numerous complaints of harassment from union members who say they are being pressured to work faster. It seems like the supervisors are in fear of losing their jobs at any minute. With profits in the toilet, working faster is far too little and far too late.
If you mean the JR meeting that was the biggest waste of an hour. No discussion of true meaning to the employees.
Oh yes, Bill Brown's fault. He has been gone 2 1/2 years. Seems more like the slide began once Bill and much of the Harris leadership moved on. I also hope there is a plan beyond layoffs......
such a shame to see all of this happen. I worked at ITT and it's spin-off Excellis for many years. it was a good company to work for until it was acquired by Harris. and I'm sure the people of L3 communications had great jobs before they merged with Harris as well. all at the hands of William Brown. He is responsible for the loss of jobs for literally thousands of people. That's how he's made his bones over the years. This greedy, heartless piece of garbage should invest his millions in Kevlar pajamas.
if they gutted your staff then give them what they're paying for. do less with less. in other words... f-kem
At least you still have group leaders. the Clifton New Jersey location can't keep supervisors. Nobody wants the job. Some people were laid off here last week. They usually do that on Thursdays around here. So, tomorrow should be another interesting day. What other locations are being affected?
Group leaders are scrambling to figure out what to do with gutted staff.
