Never mind the contact engineers it’s the projects department that scraps the bottom of the barrel
There have been a few cuties over the years. Oh, work-wise. No clue, sorry.
There’s always the kindergarten engineers from KLTC and BTC.
Are they top notch talent 🙄
I can’t speak for the refinery or chem plant but the Beaumont poly plant has the worst engineers. They won’t even show up for work and nothing is done about it. As electricians we on our own
Yeahhhh!! I hate work/life balance too!! All my waking hours to enrich Darren!!
Work/Life balance.
It’s a new generation.
EM used to be a sought after place to work. Now, all the college grads have caught word about the monumental shift in how they value employees. It's all downhill from here with LTA hiring and shift to overseas TCs, compounded by a ranking system that prioritizes kool-aid drinking and schmoozing over work quality that driving real business results.
It’s Beaumont. They will take anyone with a pulse willing to come to that shithole.
OP, management hires whoever has a pulse and is willing to come work for ExxonMobil. The top college grads don't even think about working for ExxonMobil. It isn't in their radars. You get second tier students from fifth tier colleges. Get used to it. Good college grads don't come work for ExxonMobil. Some universities don't even want our money or be related to us in any way. That's why you see our managers giving money to universities in Singapore, India or China. In the USA nobody wants to be related to ExxonMobil. Get used to it.
It’s worse at the chem. No ownership. I think they forget if their unit doesn’t run, they don’t have a paycheck. If they understood that maybe they would work in ways to try to be helpful vs pushing work off on others. Also consistent bad advice and attitude that’s unnecessary. Wish some refinery folks would come over and whip them into shape
WTF is a “contact engineer” ?
Sounds like somebody who makes phone calls.
