Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

The writing was on the wall

When Jay and his cronies were recently in Southpointe for the “super collaborative and fun” BBQ (aka to stalk their next victims like cats event), Jay made his way to my team’s floor. Being the “leader” that he is, he asked my team “do you have any questions about the recent events…”. One of my coworkers blatantly asked “will there be anymore layoffs”…. He stuttered and stammered… he couldn’t find any of the words…. He was like a short circuited robot… something about budgeting…. No layoffs… we have the correct numbers… it was wild…. he knew this was going to happen. My faith in this place is gone.

You're right about Jay, but wrong about the cause and effect related to the present condition of the organization's management. Let's see if we can make this clear by starting with a few definitions. Disclaimer, this doesn't apply to all management, but should provide some illumination and aid in discernment.

Mission statement - To deliver the highest level of service to our customers at all times - striving to be their critical partner as we assist them in growing efficient, ubiquitous wireless networks.

Poseur - a person who acts in an affected manner in order to impress others.

Faker – a person who makes a pretense of something.

Hypocrisy - the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

Empty suit - a prominent person regarded as lacking substance, personality, or ability.

Diversity (as defined at CC) – those employed at CC who do not contribute value to the organization or work in support of the business to accomplish the mission statement (eg. those looking for pet insurance, unlimited PTO, etc)

Lemming – a person who unthinkingly joins a mass movement, especially a headlong rush to destruction.

ELP – emerging leader program.

Social media – a collective term for websites and applications that focus on communication, community-based input, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration.

Social media follower – those who seek recognition by following and liking those they worship - particularly those who are seeking recognition by gushing over...

Purple – …

At this point any concluding statement would be redundant. Just read those in order and the conclusion should be apparent.

Jay Brown is the perfect example for crown castle leadership. Where else does leadership just sprout from a position? Clown castle thinks if your a manager it automatically makes you a leader, this organization is so defunct of actual leadership it is pathetic. Looking at every manager at that sh-t hole when I say this. There may be a handful of them but let’s be further honest, if they where leaders they would have spoke up more when it mattered opposed to being complicit with the mid level id--ts and above,

If you don’t know then I guess you just don’t know but you will see over the next 10 months what happens.

Yes and all of the forfeitures of RSUs when people leave early will then go back into their pockets at their current low rates. Then it will grow and they will sell them making us even more ripe for a buyout.

Because the EMT is so shackled to the stock for their own personal worth, they can't loosen this albatross from around their necks. They don't dare lower the dividend for fear of the stock careening at Mach 1 to the ground. They can't sell out of it because the timing is wrong and any insider trade will be noticed immediately. The icing will be the next interest rate hike. Add some drama in the Middle East (read: high gas prices), sprinkle some inflation on it, and you have the recipe for a perfect karmic storm.

The immediate shock of the layoff-in-wolf's-clothing will wear off after about a week. Then the exodus out of Southpointe will begin, and their destination won't be Houston. This week's listening sessions were a deep insult to Crown's corporate back office, and the EMT's betrayal is going to catapult those folks out of the company faster than you can imagine. Best of luck to them. You folks deserve better than this company. You are its only REAL asset.
