Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Towers Call

CL just stayed on the towers call that ‘Crown would be successful on paths other than relocating to Houston but we made the decision to relocate.’ He’s essentially saying they didn’t have to do this. It makes the whole thing feel even worse. He’s basically saying we could have kept all of you but we don’t want to.

@1xlj+1phjf1fw A tech is a tech is a tech...sounds familiar. Any takers on what telecom company that came from?

Just covering their a-s with the markets. Talking outta both sides of their face. They gotta close south points to save money/ They'd be just as successful if South point remained.

If anything it just reinforces how poorly managed the company is and how incredibly bad their messaging/communications are.

72 ummm and 322 eye rolls. Seems like he was pulling a lot of cr-p out from his behind. Loved it when he told OD he had to move as well.

@rfd+1phjf1fw All those down votes must resemble that remark. The comment about Tower " techs" and their gear is spot on. The funny part is CC expects the fiber techs to do what the wireless guys do and vice versa. I personally know of fiber guys that are actually doing just that and the wireless guys can't and push back when asked to do what fiber does.

The comment was aimed at "larry the whiny cable guy" there. He only knows how to do one job and whines about it. I totally agree with the bi--hing about where we're at today.

@spe+1phjf1fw Everyone working here at CC hired on when it was a good place to work. All the bad decisions that have been made by this horrible leadership is what people are complaining about.

@zkg+1phjf1fw You obviously have not worked with Tower techs. They have OTDRs and fusion splicers they don't know how to use. Just like VZW techs, they call and open tickets to have the fiber traces done for them. The next time you come across a tower tech, if they show up in the office, ask them if they know how to operate even the OTDR. I've seen there test gear and it looks brand spanking new, never used.

@rvi+1phjf1fw No one asked you to work here. If you're working here, it's because you applied. So why did you apply to work somewhere that you don't like - just to complain?

@now+1phjf1fw CC is a REIT wearing a telecom costume year round. That costume is looking ragged though.

@now+1phjf1fw That's where you're wrong. CC is not the end all and be all. My experience from working in telecom prior to CC speaks for itself. The knowledge I've gained from here I can use in my next opportunity. Where as you were probably a lifer who was expecting to retire from Crown. Never put all your eggs in one basket, especially a purple one.

@srx+1phjf1fw Towers is not telecom. I know for a fact that Towers techs are just over glorified facilities maintenance personnel. They have to be tower climber certified to actually work on the towers. All they do is keep the space clean of weeds, pests (human or vermin) make sure the emergency power generator is maintained etc.

@tot+1phjf1fw, all you've learned at Crown is how to be a telecom failure. Good luck trying to get a job at another company after working at Crown. Nobody hires people coming from a losing team.

@xwx+1phjf1fw You're not a very smart person, are you... There are people with much more experience in telecom than you and have more than 23 years of it in just that one building. Yes - Crown was that good.

@lkg+1phjf1fw HaHa. I actually left Verizon to come here. I realized my very first week that I did not want to be there. I've gained so much more knowledge being here than I would have if I stayed. It was exhausting working with people that were lifers that did the bare minimum. A lot of times, less than what they should. Kind of what was happening in Canonsburg.

OP , it’s business. Stop whining and get on with your life. It su-ks, yes. CC feels its a good decision for them and ultimately that’s their prerogative. It’s not their fault YOU chose to give them your loyalty and devotion. In my 20 plus years in telecom, I’ve learned that I only owe loyalty to myself and my family. I’m constantly learning new skills and honing my knowledge. I also know that I’m expendable. Accept that hard reality and you’ll be better off.

Nope. But there was nothing against Canonsburg or anything.
