AT&T Announces Major Leadership Changes in November

Title: AT&T Announces Major Leadership Changes in November

November 1, 2023

In a surprising turn of events, AT&T, one of the telecommunications giants, has unveiled significant leadership changes set to take place this month. These transitions are poised to reshape the company's strategic direction.

John Stankey's Departure
First and foremost, John Stankey, who has been at the helm of AT&T as CEO for the past few years, will step down from his position at the end of November. During his tenure, Stankey led AT&T through a period of major expansion, including the acquisition of WarnerMedia. His departure marks the end of an era for the company.

Successor Announcement
AT&T has named Susan Johnson, the current Executive Vice President of Global Connections and Supply Chain, as the incoming CEO. Johnson, who has been with AT&T for over 30 years, brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the company's operations. Her appointment as CEO is a historic moment, as she becomes one of the few female CEOs in the telecommunications industry.

Strategic Shift
Under Johnson's leadership, AT&T is expected to undergo a strategic shift. The company is planning to focus on further integrating its telecommunications and media assets to offer customers a seamless entertainment and communication experience. This shift aligns with the growing trend of convergence in the industry.

Shareholder and Industry Reactions
These leadership changes have already garnered attention from shareholders and industry experts. AT&T's stock saw a minor fluctuation in the wake of the announcement, as investors are eager to see how the company's new direction will impact its financial performance.

Industry analysts are watching closely to see how AT&T's evolution may influence the competitive landscape in the telecommunications and media sectors.

The coming months will be crucial for AT&T as it navigates these leadership changes and the strategic realignment under Susan Johnson's guidance. It remains to be seen how these changes will shape the future of this telecommunications giant.

The more things change and the more they stay the same.
Replacing an AT&T lifer with another means no new ideas, no other way to look at things and continued stagnation.
Someone that has been there for 30 years already does not bring 30 years of experience to the post. They bring 1 year of experience repeated 30 times.

Looking forward to a change , Stevenson buying everything that had nothing to do with communications and Stankey selling it all of peanuts on the dollar, Maybe just Maybe we will have a direction and a light at the end of this dismal tunnel. Welcome Susan.

Definitely an improvement! I had previously nominated our local 7-11 assistant manager for ATT CEO knowing that would be a big improvement over stanky.

Responding to: “Can you imagine Susan Johnson as CEO. She can't even manage supply chain the right way.”

Susan is in charge of the O.G. AT&T. The core network. The lead cables. The multi billions of pensioners. The remaining CWA billy goats. Plus, supply chain which has acre sized warehouses full of failed projects (like 1,000,000 Digital Life yard signs). All of Stankey and Stephenson sc--w ups were dumped on her. She is the only leader we need. What on earth does Jeremy Leggs team do? Reset passwords and spy on COU phones. What does Kelly Kellyn do? File her nails and push out tired advertising about who knows what. What does Kelly King do except cultivate a legion of “slammers and crammers” the likes of MCI has never seen. Don’t even get me started on HR. Make Susan Johnson CEO. Make AT&T great again.

Ok folks. This is what AI looks like when you ask it to write about big changes at AT&T. IT MAKES STUFF UP. But of course our follow-ship, I mean leadership, thinks it's going to save the company with lower labor costs.. I can't catch my breath I'm laughing so hard.

if only the stank could be booted out and they bring in someone outside the company for a fresh new look at how to run it instead of into the ground.

Stankey made horrible acquisitions that cost the company millions- he didn’t grow anything but debt. Then after making everyone living outside of ATL or DFW lives miserable forcing back into the office this year he lays them off anyway. Now he gets his big bonus and sails off scot free. Evil Empire continues. Next will be more consolidation within the next 5 years anyone outside of the two hubs will be gone.

I want this caption on a motivational poster in the South Akard lobby with a photo of Poppa John.

“John is the right leader at the right time with the right goals for T at this very moment in time. Efforts to streamline and make T lean are only just now taking hold.”

but JS will be hired as a consultant for 150% of his current salary to cover the loss of stock options other benefits that he forfeits after 5 years. Current options will also pay out at 250% of current price at stock is only a few dollars above option price.

Oh, he will opt for the lump sum as current pension fund is not insured.

rank & file employees loose regardless.
