Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Big Announcement From Lawler

On the call this evening:

"Lawler did estimate an $850 to $900 added cost per unit in labor costs."

"The company will be profitable moving forward. there's no doubt about that," Lawler said during a news media call. "This is an increase in costs for us. This is something we're going to have to work on. We're going to have to find efficiencies throughout the system ... to help mitigate the impacts of higher labor costs."

@1ubb+1piaV2Dd - You can report it to ER (NOT HR). Remember what happened to Raj Nair PD LL1 guy that got fired!

1ubb and the insane amount of software and hardware that is bought and never used.
It’s like certain software vendors have a blank check from certain IT leaders.

@1ubb there was also the DBA who was the wife of a LL4. Her hubby got her a tech spec LL6 while he was her LL5. Yes shockingly HR allowed it. And yes, she too was incompetent. She did get fired after her hubby retired. She made many enemies over the years with long memories.

@1bvl+1piaV2Dd But we all know the $1000 a vehicle is fake news

Ford has yet to purge the non-productive salaried.
I’m talking about

  • the bureaucratic groups created just to add headcount so they could justify some promotions
  • the high paid party planners and boot-lickers. There is a female DBA that installed into the group by a now retired LL6 (his mistress). She has no technical skills and does no work yet is a GSR8 making 120K. The current LL6 has been trying to pawn her off to another team but everyone knows she is incompetent. She has found other LL to cozy up to and keep off of the layoff lists. Last year we removed all her access after she tried to change a table column length and deleted the production table instead, then just went golfing without bothering to tell anyone what she had done, fun times. 25 years @ average of 100K = 2.5 million of waste. Anyone thinking she is a one off hasn’t been paying attention @ Ford. Oh and lest we forget She has a Ford pension and 401K and profit sharing and healthcare so the number is really closer to 5 million of waste just so one LL6 could do a favor for his mistress.

Some people (mostly UAW) will say another $1000 to the vehicle is not a big deal. BUT that’s already $5000 over the Korean automakers. Wait until the Chinees (BYD) move to the U.S. People will get the same “value” vehicle for $10K-15K less.

I know of some UAW members who brag about a cottage up north, a fishing boat, and some even a “toy car” like Mercedes or BMW. This is how the left work (e.g. Bernie Sanders & Co) they claim poverty but the reality is very different.

I’m going to find it very difficult buying another UAW-built vehicle. I should make a new bumper sticker “Built with no UAW help”.

Fix poor quality and billons will go to the bottomline, not to mention improved pride from employees and customer satisfaction. Quality is the foundation to any successful company.

Once the price of a new vehicle reaches a certain point, what's another thousand dollars to someone who's leasing it or financing it for 7 years? I already can't afford one, so aside from possibly losing my job, which I believe is inevitable anyway, it onlu affects my objectives and performance reviews. That said, we hear every single day that costs are too high and we need to do more, and this is the example leadership sets? It's good for the UAW workers, but a huge fail for the goals we're tasked with during every single building Ford and global town hall meeting. Leadership sets the pace, and this, in my opinion, is a colossal fail.. As if finding cost savings on every vehicle wasn't hard enough already ...

I worked for Ford for 30+ years and they gave been trying to “find efficiencies” every single year with the new initiative every quarter. Find efficiencies. Guess what? Nobody there has the bulls to do it.

Lawler is one of the good ones on Ford's leadership team. He handled the earnings report out like a pro.

The consumers will have to pay for the UAW pay raises, bonus, profit sharing, COLA. overtime pay. Ford will not be able to stay competitive against other automakers. Sales will go down, productivity will go down, same with quality. Employees will start leaving the company. Layoffs will start soon.

The UAW is ki-ling the automotive companies in America. They are helping the foreign automakers to become more prosperous.

Ford stock will be back to $4 a share. Bankruptcy is on the horizon.

For all of Ford’s material and components suppliers, get ready for on demand price reductions. Signed contracts terms don’t mean a thing. It’s back to bullying the suppliers who already favor their Ford business the least.

Can’t imagine this move will help qualify in any way.

I think Lawler meant that he and other c suite will be profitable with big bonuses and salary. UAW too.

The company as a whole and everyone else in the company, not so much.

Thanks to the UAW, I'll be looking for a more affordable alternative for my next purchase now that I'm retired. I've bought Ford/Lincoln/Mercury products since 1975 and that will change. I've had some great vehicles, some I owned less than a year because they were horrible. My misguided allegiance cannot afford any more mistakes.
