Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

When did we turn into a joke?

I'd like to say when Amazon took over, but things were going downhill even before then. It has just been getting worse and worse. And to think I used to love working here. Not just loved, I was genuinely proud of working at Whole Foods. Now all I do is try to find a way out.

Now they claim Kronos is taking more "control" over schedules so our short handed dept. is going to be even more messed up. They don't even want to cross-train which would help everyone in the dept.

who remembers when we voted on our benefits package?????ever since they started that way back in like 2002,we were only voting on what we would lose...never to add....that way the uppercrust of the company could wash their hands of the cost cutting changes and claim "the team members voted for it!!! see what a great company we are we let them vote on their benefits package!!!"....

obamacare makes all companies over 50 employees have health insurance...before they could do whatever they wanted...wholefoods used to have different plan levels for health insurance and allowed people to opt out(they still can but take a hit on taxes)...and back in the day you didnt get health insurance from day one as a full time employee, you had to work a year before you got in the club...also with obamacare ,health insurance had to cover a lot of people who may have been unhealthy or old and they didnt like the costs associated with that group so they passed the bucks unto the rest of us .....it isnt a political comment but more on the state of business in america and what we take up the a** compared to other civilized nations....who remembers those poat tests where they made prospective employees do time on a treadmill and lift 50lbs??? to weed out the problems?????????

I don't understand how Obamacare hurt our insurance, can you explain that? I always felt like one political side always uses the other side to blame when they are sticking it to us. Let's face it, ALL politicians are pretty much crooked and everything they do is to fill their own pockets. They seem to forget they are elected to work for the people not to steal from the people.

buying wild oats right before the great recession was a real winner...which set the stage for some initial low key lay offs that we had in florida region--any team member on a final write up was let go. several at our location..then the lengthy post recession recovery and other mainstream stores catching up to us in the knowledge of how to handle organic goods hurt the margins...remember the whole "good organics" thing they lobbied thru congress was to buy us time and keep kroger, publix, walmart scared about selling organic goods...once those guys figured it out we took a good hit...and the obamacare roll out really su-ked the life out of our already dwindling health insurance package...deductible went from like 1200$ which the pwa card could cover to 3500 and later 3750...this was when they started trying those schedules to make full timers aggravated and give preference to part timers...they wanted you off the insurance...after 2015 its been a slow rolling tu-d down a hill.....

It's a truly toxic work environment and totally began with Wild Oats - Mackeys new restaurant endeavor sh-t the bed too- the original RP's were the ones who executed the vision and ran an awesome company- once they were out of the picture it started the slide big time

Never should’ve bought Wild Oats. That company was going downhill fast. WFM didn’t end up keeping very many of those stores open and at least in my region (RM) only about 10% of the Wild Oats team members were stilll with WFM two years after the buyout.

He did that so Wild Oats stock value would go down and he'd be able to buy for cheap. Slick.

When Mackey wanted to buy Wild Oats and created an email with his wife's first name in reverse, so to "create" negative comments about them.
Favoritism and nepotism is the most important things at wfm, NOT Core value: team member health and happiness.
They hire family and friends, no one has a chance for advancement or getting a job unless.
Their favorites can do no wrong-- ever.
