Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Surpluses, rightsizing, spreading the peanut butter, increase span & control, etc…

Euphemism’s for layoffs to help the C-suite sleep better while at the same time giving themselves bigger bonuses while laying off thousands. What morality, ethics and humanity! Of course, it’s for the “Needs of the business”. It couldn’t be because of horrible business decisions, double, tripled and yes, even quadrupled down, bad following bad, year after year.

Stankey has upped those before him by using the new ageism layoff tool. RTO to far, far away places, for the experienced WFH employees. He said to Randall, hold my beer, I will see your thousands and up you by the tens of thousands. I love those perennials but don’t you dare say Boomers. Now polish my dome, Wax On! Wax Off!

I just hope my boss never realizes that most of the members on our team have nothing to do, myself included. I hate to admit it but I think there are a lot of teams within at&t just like ours. its almost harder to appear productive than be productive. Hate to admit it but at&t could easily lose half of the workforce and not miss a beat.

Jeffy McElfresh still regrets the day he made the original statement about spreading the peanut butter evenly!

You forgot the standard senior management statement to the media… “This new restructuring will ensure continued improvements in efficiency and effectiveness in our business resulting in a better experience for our customers.”

It is called span OF control. Not span AND CONTROL. Fyi, AT&T IS NOT DOING ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT BENEFIT AT&T.

Anyone with any seniority knows that the OP is telling the truth despite the company trolls poor attempt to distract.

Poor leadership leads to poor decisions which are results in an imploding business that has to sell assets and have layoffs by the tens of thousands. Result is contracting out IT, Tech Support, Call Centers, CRE and the list goes on. Cheaper for now but when you lose your in-house talent, then you are at the mercy of those that you transferred your knowledge base too. Supply and demand at work! He who holds all the cards, Wins!
